Cups in your dress?

Rachel, on February 24, 2022 at 5:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 11
Hi, Everyone!

Just a quick question, but how many of you are getting cups sewn into your dresses or decided not to after all? I originally thought that I’d need them for my gown but I’m only a 34B and I’ve lost a few more pounds since my first fitting (the pics I’ve attached are from my recent 2nd fitting). I know some brides like the extra support or “oomph”, especially for strapless gowns, but I’m thinking that I don’t really need them especially since my gown as a corset back and it definitely stays in place! My seamstress is going to take in the top part of my bodice since it’s still a little loose, too, so it’ll probably fit even better than it already does!Cups in your dress? 1

I always say do cups. They have really thin ones that don't really add any support/oomph. IMO, cups just add the polished "roundness" to a dress. I can see in your dress there is a bit of wrinkling in the boob area, which a cup could help smooth out. BUT its obviously up to you, and it looks great as it is!

Thanks so much, I agree! I think I’ll contact my seamstress and see if I can have them sewn in before my next fitting, I compared these photos to when I went and originally tried on my gown at the salon (I wore a stick-on push up bra) and there’s definitely more support there and just an overall better shape to my figure! Thanks again for your input!

I’m getting cups for sure. My dress has a square neck line. I’m a C, but would like a little extra push up.

I think it's usually better to do cups too! i was so glad that mine already had cups because i don't have a large chest but i definitely still felt better supported that way

I'm getting cups for the above mentioned reasons, it will give it more of a rounded shape and that little extra oomph.

UPDATE!! I called my seamstress today to ask her about putting cups into my dress and we’re going to talk about different sizes and styles at my next fitting - woohoo! Thanks for your input, Everyone! 😊😊😊

I decided not to do cups because most don’t do much for support. I have a couple acquaintances who are seamstresses and say the same thing. They pad the nipples more than anything if you are larger than a perky A-B cup. If you need actual support, tape is the way to go. You can find it at goodlines.com

I was going to, but when the dress came in, I didn’t need any. I think it’s personal preference and depends on the fit and boning in your gown.

I bought a display dress at a local bridal shop near me and it came with the cups already built in and it’s SO nice ! Definitely recommend!
