Cruise to Bermuda

Danielle, on August 10, 2019 at 10:08 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 5

Hi!

We were lucky enough to win a 7 day cruise to Bermuda with Norwegian for our Honeymoon! We are going out on the newest ship 2 days after our wedding. What are some must see excursions? I've been looking at them but just can't decide! I know we definitely want to do the caves.

Please let me know what your favorite excursions were! Smiley love 🚢🏖️

Consider skipping any cruise line excursions and tour on your own...getting around Bermuda is VERY easy.

Invest in Fodor's Bermuda guidebook to research the sights on the island. Consider purchasing transportation passes that will give you access to the bus and ferry system (last time I was there, three-day passes were about $40pp). The bus system is not difficult to figure out and the guidebook can help you figure out which bus line you should use. Perhaps the easiest thing about their bus stops is that those with pink poles will be headed toward Hamilton (and the main, central bus depot...lots of transfers there) and blue poles are buses that are spidering away from Hamilton.

If you go to the caves, (we did both caves...very cool!) the original Swizzle Inn is just a short walk from the caves. You can go have a taste of the original Rum Swizzle drink. Also right nearby the caves is a small ice cream shop (next to the bus stop there).

Gibbs Hill Lighthouse is a nice place to go and if you climb to the top, you can get a gorgeous view of a good section of the entire island. Take the ferry to St. George from King's Wharf (where your ship will dock) and tour this great little area. At noon, they do a re-enactment of the 'dunking of the wench' that is cute. You can walk outside of St. George up to the Unfinished Church, and then continue on to a nice beach area called Tobacco Bay. When we were there last, they had a nice outdoor bar with food service.

The Bermuda Underwater Institute is a nice visit as well. Make sure you hit the famous Horseshoe Bay beach - beautiful pink sands (easier to see the pink if it is overcast) and pretty walking trails all along the beach.

Love Bermuda - such a wonderful island to explore!

Thank you! I was in shock when they called my name at the Bridal Expo! It was an amazing surprise and helps out so much with our wedding budget! I haven't been there before, my sister actually just went with her boyfriend 2 weeks ago. His parents have a house out there. She said it was drop dead gorgeous, but she didn't do a lot of exploring. Any tips?! :o
