Lynne, on March 24, 2020 at 4:36 PM Posted in Washington Planning 0 11

Looking for unique wedding venue and officiant in Seattle area for 4/11 afternoon/evening wedding , total group 10 or less. Outdoor venue such as winery or on the water. Had other plans, but this is life in the time of Covid-19. Creative suggestions for a memorable wedding appreciated.

I don’t know where you’re from but I’m from California and the beaches are closed and so are hiking trails and restaurants and what not. So maybe if you’re looking for outdoor try a park? Those aren’t closed.

No gatherings of any size are allowed in Washington state as of yesterday, and only essential business are allowed to remain open. Your 4/11 date is unrealistic at best and dangerous at worst. Being "creative" to flout this direct order from the governor is a bad plan. He specifically mentioned that weddings are not allowed.

I would not even gather 10 people, it's a risk to everyone involved. If you are set on that date, arrange for your officiant to be at least 10 feet away from you and have anyone else video call in.

I am allowed to go outside and there are options. As for the web wedding, interesting, particularly since our family is dispersed geographically. We've looked at Web Wed. Has anyone used or considered this?

Oregon also has options for outdoor venues.

How would this even be allowed? Washington State has a shelter in place order so doesn't that mean that all gatherings are currently banned? At least that's the way the shelter in place order is currently happening in my state. Except for going to the grocery store or pharmacy, we are not allowed to gather with anyone outside of our immediate family who we already live with. And yes, this includes weddings even when the only person attending other than the bride and groom is the person ordaining said wedding. I suppose that shelter in place works differently in different states but I can't see how you would get around this...

I'm not looking for a debate here. I am soliciting advice from professional wedding planners and officiants.

If your officiant can marry you via Zoom, then you could certainly do that! Very creative and everyone could attend virtually. You'd need to make sure that it's allowed in your state and that your officiant is allowed to conduct virtual weddings, I believe.

I thought you meant that you wanted your officiant to marry you IN PERSON on April 11. I misunderstood, as that would be a no-go! But a wedding conducted entirely via Zoom would be very appropriate under these circumstances.

Sorry but... I literally now have COVID-19 because my fiancé was instructed to come back into his office of 6 people to simply figure out some work-from-home measure and pick up his laptop.

You are in an incredibly high-risk area. On behalf of the families that have been affected by the same person who inadvertently gave it to my FH and his co-workers... please either postpone or do a Zoom/Skype call event.

It's definitely not allowed. This particular OP is misinformed or willfully ignoring direct instructions. Safety is more important than politeness at this point. If the OP had asked for virtual-only solutions from the start, that would be fine, but she definitely is not.

I'm glad you are not planning to debate because there is actually no debate when it comes to safety. Your original post didn't mention keeping your wedding virtual (just small and outdoors). Is virtual your plan now?
