covid Safety Wedding Tips

Katie, on September 5, 2021 at 10:13 AM Posted in Planning 1 3
Hello my fellow covid brides and grooms! Last year we married during covid and created many subtle changes that protected our guests. Like many of you, we didn’t want our wedding to look hospital-like, yet we wanted it to be very safe. I feared these changes make our wedding be lame or it would be obvious in our photos it was a “covid wedding”, but honestly our photos and feedback from guests is it didn’t hinder the wedding fun and aesthetic at all! Feel free to share your ideas below! Hope these ideas help those planning ❤️

What we did:
Eliminated the receiving line
Sat guests by household at reception tables
Sat autoimmune guests and their perspective household on the ends of reception, seating them far from traveling guests
PPE table at entry of ceremony with individual hand sanitizers, custom masks, and custom wristbands that said “Toasting from six feet away” for autoimmune, caregivers, etc. to wear as a silent symbol for other guests not to hug/kiss these guests. Wristbands matched our wedding colors and in our photos was not noticeable at all.
Plated dinner with wrapped silverware in napkin at each place setting
Venue served drinks in bottles and closed cans. This didn’t take away from the aesthetic of our wedding at all.
Cookie table had wrapped cookies already in favor bags labeled with cookie type.
At the time, open dance floor was a no no. We increased significant dances, which were incredibly special. These turned out to be some of my favorite moments. Groom’s grandparents did a dance, I danced with my brother/Man of Honor.
At the time, hair salon did not allow buffet style spreads while we got ready. I ordered Panera individual lunch boxes delivered to the salon for each girl to take with them after their appointment.
Although we got married outdoors, had we done indoors I would’ve looked into air purifiers.
Wishing you all beautiful and safe weddings!! ❤️

SO many great tips Katie!! Thanks for sharing! 🙌

I hadn't even thought about sitting immunocompromised guests at the edges of the room to minimize their contact - that's so smart!

Thank you for these tips!!!! This is great and going to help out so many brides-myself included. My wedding is not until 2022 but the way things are going I'm starting to get a bit nervous about possibly having a wedding that will be impacted by COVID and how to assure guests we will take all measures for safety while still enjoying themselves.
