covid / postponed celebration

Namanda, on November 16, 2020 at 1:05 PM Posted in Maryland Planning 0 3
In June my husband and I got married at church with only immediate family. We rescheduled with our venue for a big celebration on May 31st, 2021. I'm nervous again cause our venue went from allowing 50 guests in the Summer and Fall to now 25. MD is scaling back on their reopening plan so It's up in the air how many guests can gather in May. We sent Re Save the Dates to 120 people but now I'm worried about having to uninvite guests. We both have big extended families and there may not be enough room to have them all. We don't really want to Live Stream it cause we haven't seen zoom weddings work smoothly. We decided we won't push back the event again. I don't want to give up on having the day we wanted Smiley sad. Would it be weird to plan another reception at our church and invite the guests that can't attend the other event? How do we even go about communicating this to our guests? Any ideas?

So have 2 different receptions? It's not weird but I can see that getting expensive. However, if it is in your budget then go for it! And yes Maryland is getting absolutely horrible, the numbers are going up and at their highest since June.

I think that most people will be understanding because it is out of our control. I definitely wouldn't expect to have a 120 person wedding in May though I highly doubt that many people would be allowed in a venue at that time.

Hi Namanda! You could definitely do two different staggered receptions to break up your guest list!

Also there's a lot that could change between now and May! Would a 50 person event be worth it to you? Or can you find an outdoor venue that would be able to accommodate a larger guest list with social distancing measures??

Thank you for the advice! Smiley smile How should I go about inviting the guests to the different events? Should I send out a mass message? Or just different invitations?

I really hope things change! Our venue is actually outdoor and indoor. We're having most of the event outside but they lowered the guest count because of covid. They're owned by the county so they are strictly following the guidelines.
