covid Increase in food prices

Matt, on June 7, 2020 at 7:46 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
Hello,

My wedding is on 8/15. We picked the venue and signed the contract back in early March before everything shut down. I met with my venue gal Friday and she told me that the price of chicken and steak have increase so food costs may be $8.00 more/ plate. Anyone else experiencing this?

Although my wedding has taken place already, I have noticed my monthly grocery bill has increased about 20 percent...meats, veggies and fruit have all increased. I'm so sorry this is happening to you.

Yes beef and chicken overall has gotten more pricey. I would consider other options to keep pricing down.

I've definitely noticed this in our grocery bill, too. Our weekly groceries went up about 25%. About the catering costs, though, did you agree to costs in your contract? I'd look at the wording of the contract and see if they're allowed to do that (I know our venue is not allowed to jack costs, and even our rehearsal dinner venue is giving us one cost and won't change it based on market prices). If they are allowed to do that, maybe look at different options to cut costs if you need to?

I noticed this in groceries like pp has mentioned so I wouldn’t be surprised that that’s the case for catering either

If you have a contract they can't do that!
