Covid honeymoon/st lucia/costa rica/mexico

Kathleen, on November 5, 2020 at 11:42 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 15
Seems options are limited with covid for honeymoons. Anyone honeymooning now or waiting until later? Also, given st lucia, mexico or Costa Rica which would you pick for honeymoon? Seems these are options with covid.

We have decided to postpone our honeymoon until our one year anniversary. We will be doing a three day mini-moon within the U.S. after the wedding (pandemic permitting, that is!)

We are postponing our honeymoon until things get better with Covid. We will probably do something in the states (as we did after our minimony) but we don't feel comfortable going out of the country yet.

Out of those options, I think mexico would be the easiest and cheapest (but I also don't look at that as a honeymoon spot personally). I personally would choose St. lucia

We are postponing until after Covid and doing a mini moon somewhere close. Also I would pick St. Lucia it’s always been one of my dream vacation spots.

I was just in Mexico the last week of September right before that hurricane hit and had a blast. Mexico was the first country to be allowed to reopen for tourism as they heavily rely on tourism on areas such as Cancun, Cabo, Acapulco, etc. They are so safe its crazy coming from the US, they have hand sanitizer flowing everywhere, have their rooms professionally disinfected after every stay, clean their common areas no-stop all day, are at reduced capacities and their staff is going above and beyond to make you feel at ease there. My husband and I had to cancel our 1st married year anniversary trip to Europe after Covid began and after months of still working (both essential workers) and feeling overwhelmed we took off and flew Delta which has promised to keep their cabin capacity below 60% for main cabin and below 50% for first class. We scored great 1st class tickets and prayed before we left. The trips were great, airport experiences not bad either. Would go back to Mexico if tings don't change and I feel the need to get away. We flew from LAX to Cancun and stayed in Playa De Carmen at Hotel Xcaret which is about 45 minutes from the airport.

We rescheduled our honeymoon to St Lucia to next November only because we moved the wedding! Very excited to get away to Sandals there.

That's where we are planning on going for our honeymoon as our 1st anniversary trip! We got married this last weekend, and rather than try to risk it, we decided to go as our 1st anniversary gift to each other next year. Last we checked, and parts of the resort are also currently closed....we want to be able to experience the entire place, so another reason we are waiting.

That’s the same thing I thought, then I jumped on YouTube and starting looking up the resorts I was interested in and found tons of videos of different resorts with their new restrictions etc. In one video they recommended to connect with the hotel once you do your booking and start planning with them. Hotel Xcaret is the mother hotel to all of the water parks in the Cancun/Mayan Riviera area such as Xcaret park, Xel-ha, X-Plor, Xenses, Xenotes, Xoximilco, Xavage and other tours around pyramids and such. Out of all of the parks Xavage and the pyramid tours were not available but we stayed 8 days and it would not have been enough time. My husband and I did all of the other parks, we ate at all of the restaurants that required reservations as well as those that didn’t. I arranged everything that needed reservations before we even arrived and when we got there they simply gave me my tickets to each adventure and that was it, we enjoyed the pool bars and the river, it was great. Of course, when the hurricane hit days after we left nothing was open which is why its so important to plan a trip to the Caribbean with caution because June-November-ish is hurricane season. I watched the weather cautiously and had made sure I could cancel all the way up until the day we left but I was so happy I was able to get away.

All 3 are wonderful and being extremely safe!
We did a mini moon in the states, but planning on St. Lucia for our 1 year... if things have settled down. Mexico is fantastic too, cheaper as well.

We did a small staycation after out wedding but are waiting on a honeymoon until we can travel safely and really enjoy ourselves. It’s possible that will be early fall 2021 for our destination (Greece), but we’re not making any plans yet and expect it to be more like spring or fall 2022.

We are planning on going to Egypt as of today. (That could change!) But I heard that you do not need to quarantine while you are there and honeymooning near the pyramids sounds so dreamy!

We are staying at a nice hotel after our wedding. Getting married at a different hotel, going home to drop presents and grab our stuff and then to the new hotel for 3 nights. Wanted to travel obviously but will wait until things are normal again, possibly a baby moon or anniversary trip.
