Covid Brides in Iowa?

Whitney, on April 12, 2020 at 9:21 AM Posted in Iowa Planning 0 2
Any summer brides in Iowa here? My date is 6/20/20 and I’m wondering what other Iowa brides are thinking in this crazy time. Looks like the covid peak in Iowa will be towards the end of April. My boyfriend wants to wait a while longer to decide what to do, which is understandable. I think things will be better by June, but I’m not sure it will be responsible to hold a gathering of more than 100 people by then. Thoughts?

    Hi Whitney,

I found another post from an Iowa bride named Alyssa. Her wedding is scheduled for August, but maybe you could reach out to her: Iowa Brides!!! Concerns About August 29th, 2020 Wedding

Some June brides are waiting a little bit longer to make the call, but everyone's situation is different. You also aren't alone right now! You'll find a ton of June brides talking about their COVID-19 concerns in these discussions:

I am in Iowa City... We were supposed to get married on 7/18/20, but our venue is part of the University of Iowa campus, and they have recently cancelled all events through 7/31/20, so we've been forced to reschedule. Honestly, as sad as I was that they cancelled, it was a bit of a relief for them to make the decision for me, b/c I was stressing a lot about what to do, and how long to wait before we made a decision. It our situation, we probably would have postponed it anyway, b/c we both have a lot of out-of-state family that we were worried wouldn't be able to make it if we had it as planned. Our new plan, is to push everything out a full year (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) so that we can hopefully celebrate exactly as planned... But, we don't want to wait to get married, so we're going to have a small private ceremony this summer as well. I still want to walk down the aisle next year in my pretty dress, so when we celebrate next year, we're just going to have a full ceremony anyway... haven't figured out all the details yet, but I've seen several posts on here of people doing the same things & there's a lot of good ideas, so you may want to consider this as an option if you do need to postpone. Good luck 🤞
