Couples getting married on Sep 14, 2019 in Minnesota

Anyone doing an outdoor reception? What are your throughts on the MN weather? My FH and I are planning to do a BBQ for our reception and I’m very nervous about the weather in September IN Minnesota.
The place we plan to do it at is a pavilion, but have no indoor shelter Incase the weather is cold. I have so many worries...
A bbq would be cheaper for us to do compare to paying $1000+ for a reception area, then $4,000+ for food.

We are getting married in Lakeville on this day! I sure hope it isn't 92 degrees like it was THIS weekend!

I would try your best to have a rain back up plan. Have you thought about renting a tent that would be large enough to shield people from the rain (if the pavilion isn't large enough)? I wouldn't worry about it being too cold necessarily-- maybe if it's in the 60's you can bring a basket with throw blankets? They could double as your favors... or there are heat lamps you can rent. I'll be married outdoors with a back up plan to move the ceremony inside if we absolutely have to. I think it's just the risk of the season Smiley sad

For reference, I agree that wedding pricing is out of control! Check into local park buildings or city buildings. For example, we are getting married in our community's Art Center who will let us bring whatever caterer we'd like so there aren't any minimums to meet, etc.

We're planning our wedding for 9/14/19 at our cabin in Northern Minnesota and hoping the weather cooperates! We're renting an enormous tent for seating/dinner, but the ceremony will be entirely outdoors. If it looks too cold or rainy, we'll come up with a Plan B the week of! I agree that prices are outrageous... definitely seems that vendors in small-town, greater MN [ie not Twin Cities, Rochester, etc.] are significantly cheaper.
