We aren't honeymooning there but my dad lives there and it is beautiful! We always fly into San Jose since he lives in Jaco. Check trip advisor for the best hotels depending on what part of the country you are wanting to stay in. Also there is tons of stuff to do, I recommend zip lining, horse back riding on the beach, visiting waterfalls.

It depends on when you want to go. Jaco is very nice and very Americanized. San Jose will be the major airport you will probably fly in to either which way. You can go anywhere from rainforests, hot sunny beaches, to volcanoes and cloud forests ie rainy/misty cooler weather. some of the best places to explore i would not suggest staying at just one resort. check out Montezuma, arenal area and anything on the nicoya peninsula.

FH and I went to Costa Rica in 2010. It was amazing. We booked hotels and transportation through a company called Anywhere Costa Rica: http://www.anywherecostarica.com/ I think we booked some activities through them and some through the hotels themselves.

We flew into San Jose. The cities we visited were Manuel Antonio (beach area), Monteverde (cloud forrest) and Arenal (volcano). If you go to Monteverde, only go there for 1-2 days as there is less to do there.

I would love to go to Costa Rica, but our honeymoon is already booked Smiley smile

I don't have any tips regarding Costa Rica, specifically, but I HIGHLY recommend that you speak to a travel agent -- they don't charge anything, and there are so many of them that you can definitely find a good one, no matter where you are (apparently, many of them do everything online, anyway, without any in person meetings). Ours was absolutely indispensable in the honeymoon deciding/booking process, and she does tons of honeymoons (and visits all the places herself at least once a year), so she really had tons of inside info and personal recommendations. Plus, she booked everything for us and has been amazing about handling all our questions and concerns. It really takes all of the guesswork out!

    Hi Angela,

Congrats on your engagement! It`s exciting chapter in your life.

Costa Rica is amazing destination to visit..Liberia is the best airport to fly into if you want to stay in Guanacaste area (it has options for nice all-inclusive resorts). The area offers numerous activities along the beach, in the charming towns, and in the nearby rain forests.

If you wish to discuss more options and would like me to find you a great place for your honeymoon feel free to contact me thru WW storefront. I am certified honeymoon and destination wedding specialist and will be glad to assist with your dream vacation.

Hi Angela, A big congrats on your engagement! My name is Kelly Burnett and I am owner and Travel expert of Travel by Kelly. I think Costa Rica is an awesome destination and a great choice for a honeymoon. there is so much to do. I have many clients booked to go on a honeymoon there so I thought I would share one of the itinerary ideas I just booked for a couple. They are flying into Liberia airport and transferring to the Dreams Resort. This is a very remote resort on the beach all inclusive, so some nice down time relax and enjoy, then they have transfers to the Nayara Springs resort (adults only) near the Arenal Volcano area where they are going to go ziplining, doing the hanging bridges tour etc.., many other tours, this is the active area, but also romantic, they have a nice candlelight dinner included. From there they transfer back to the airport, but flying out of San Jose airport. I'm happy to share my expertise and knowledge on this destination and any others. It would be my pleasure. Be sure to check out my storefront here on weddingwire and my reviews. there is never a fee to use my services so feel to reach out anytime. Good luck with all your wedding planning, it is a fun and exciting time!

    Love more.....Laugh more...Travel more..... Kelly

Hi I traveled to Costa Rica for 2 weeks. We used anywhere costa rica, awesome travel agent and they really make your trip personal to your tastes and budget. we never stayed at a hotel we didnt like, we have awesome day trips and we never felt in danger or out of place. It was a fantastic time! We loved costa rica we decided if we ever win the lotto we are moving there!. My favorite day trip was the waterfall hike, the beach (manual antonio) and the very best that you must do....hot springs! it was a magical trip and planning it with them was so easy.

    Hi Angela,

Most people fly into San Jose CR. It is the Juan Santamaria International Airport (online search code SJO). (There is also a major airport in Liberia). From there, they head out to the various resort areas. There are internal flights that can take you.

    www.sansa.com

    www.natureair.com

Or ... you can go by bus. Interbus in reliable local company that usually runs about half the price of the plane farse. They are air conditioned mini vans.

    www.interbusonline.com

The public buses are comfortable and much more affordable, but we only suggest them if you speak Spanish, as there may not be English speaking people on them to assist you.

Costa Rica has the most wonderful tours! River Rafting, Zip lines (the most fun you have had since childhood, lol!), Waterfall Rappelling, Horseback Riding, ATV tours, Jet.Skiing, Catamaran Snorkeling tours, Romantic Sunset Sails. It is honeymoon heaven, really!

We specialize in individually customized honeymoons in Costa Rica. We are in the Manual Antonio area, and have helped many couples create their dream honeymoon over the last 10 years. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have. Just click on our picture here (top left), to reach us.

    Congratulations!
