Cost of Ring(s)?!

Mrs. Spring, on February 27, 2021 at 10:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 180
I was a teeny bit irritated bc my FH insisted on a gold wedding band. He is NOT a jewelry person. I have been with him for 5 and a half years and I've never seen him wear a single piece of jewelry. I wanted to get him a pack of silicone rings from Wal-Mart 4 for $10. He goes "there's a difference between being frugal and downright cheap."

How much did you spend on your significant other's wedding band?

My wedding band is coming from the seller on Etsy we got my engagement ring from for $495 and his wedding band will be about $1000. He’s not a jewelry person either and was a little shocked in his selection. I think silicone rings are a good alternative for work/exercise/travel but I also think grooms should also have what they wants since they’ll be wearing it forever.

I think that for many men, they don’t think of wedding rings as jewelry.

My fiancé’s band is also gold and I paid about $1100. He also got a silicone band for when he’s working on his car. I agree with Lisa. My fiancé is going to wear the ring forever (he’s not a jewelry person either but is very excited to wear a wedding band!), so it was important to me he had something he loved. If you’re not comfortable price point wise though, have that conversation.

I can’t imagine being irritated at my SO for having an opinion on a piece of jewelry they are going to wear for the rest of their lives...

My engagement ring was more than $15k, my wedding band was less than $400 and his ring was around $800.

My FH never wears jewelry but I wouldn't blink an eye if he decided on a gold band. This would probably be the only piece of jewelry he wears and I want him to have something nice.

My band was about $700. We found a crazy good deal on his band and ultimately paid around $50 but the normal price was $300. He originally had set a budget of about $600 for his and we were super excited to find this one on super sale plus he had a really good cash back deal from the brand on his credit card so it worked out. But we still would have spent the full amount if we hadn’t stumbled across the deal. It’s something he’ll wear for the rest of his life, so we want something made to last.

Devils advocate. I’m not someone who wears rings often and hardly EVER wear my engagement ring. I couldn’t imagine him telling me he’s not getting me one or getting me a silicon band on the bases of “I won’t wear it often”. He bought me my dream engagement ring and we just purchased my wedding band a few weeks ago. Just because I don’t wear it often doesn’t mean I don’t love it! It’s so special to me and still makes me giddy when I do actually wear it and that’s all that matters to him!

We’re both getting matching gold bands, very simple, from a local jeweler. Ours will each be about $1k, maybe a little less. We also both have silicone rings (although I wear one more often, for running, hiking, etc.). It’s arguably the most important piece of a wedding ceremony. BUT I would also argue it’s not worth bankrupting yourself over—it is just a symbol. If money is a concern, I would try to match whatever the total was of the engagement ring plus your wedding band, as then it’s equivalent.

Oh my. I mean, he has a point. I like the cheap bands for work, etc. My husband’s band was
$500 and then I got him a $25 tungsten I think for work.

My rings are in a set of 3 which cost $1750. My fiancé is a firefighter/medic so he bought himself a set of silicone rings for work from Amazon. He was very specific on the type of ring he wanted for our wedding & to wear for special occasions. I bought his ring from metalmasters.com for $23 (plus $6 for shipping). Tungsten material which is a heavy duty with a thin red line.

He should absolutely have the right he wants. We both have gold bands, the cost is usually dependent on weight so mine was about $500 and his was around $1k.

My FH wanted a titanium ring and we found one for 50$, my engagement ring was only 80$ and my wedding band was on sale for 60$. We aren’t big into spending a ton of money on jewelry that could be put to use elsewhere, but we also live hectic lives and don’t want super expensive jewelry incase something happens to it.

Your rings are a symbol of your marriage! It should be completely up to him what kind of band he wants. If he's interested in gold bands, I can only assume he's thinking this will be the one piece of jewelry he will actually wear.

My FH is actually allergic to metals like gold and silver, so he doesn't have a choice but to get something a bit cheaper. We've looked online but haven't gone shopping in person for his ring yet, but we have a budget of $800 and think we'll actually spend around $300.

My wife’s ring cost about $400. I can’t imagine being bothered by that, especially assuming that your ring(s) cost much more.

If that’s what he wants I think you should give it to him. I’m pretty sure if he proposed to you with a silicone ring you’d be a little disappointed.

My FH ring cost a little over 5k and the one I got for him to wear to work cost about 350$. He’s going to be the one wearing it he should be able to choose (within reason)

And there is definitely a difference between being frugal and cheap.

I honestly don’t remember, but I think my husbands ring cost close to $1000 for white gold. My wedding band is white gold with matching diamonds to my ER $1300. He never wears his ring unless it’s for special occasions, and I haven’t worn mine during covid. But I love my jewelry and if your FH wants that ring then get him one Smiley smile

We haven't picked out the bands yet, but I'm prepared to spend between $500-$1000 depending on what he likes. He did really good picking out my engagement ring, so I think that's fair.

You can find an inexpensive gold band at Kay’s or Zales.

How much was your ering...? Or your wedding band?

My FI is worth more than 4/$10...doesn't sound like your guy picked out something too expensive.
