Coronavirus in Washington state

Katrina, on March 6, 2020 at 1:56 AM Posted in Washington Planning 0 14
My wedding is on March 20 and I live in Washington state. 50+ guests are from out of town and 40+ are local. So far we have lost 7 guests because of coronavirus concerns. My heart aches and breaks as this becomes worst before our big day, especially because the date is meaningful to us and we dont want to wait another year. Ive told our guests to please stay home if they are sick or if they dont feel comfortable being here during the outbreak and with just 2 weeks left, I dont know what else to do but cry in fear that more guests will cancel and having to pay for a wedding with much less people just sucks and is so heartbreaking that my dreams of a wedding is out of my control, especially when more people are diagnosed. My family members who are nurses are very calm and tell me not to worry as long as we take precaution but just having to deal with this at all is so stressful. Is there anyone in WA state getting married in the next few weeks?! How are you dealing?

I am getting married next week 03/13/2020 and to be honest I am not concerned about it at all. If you take the necessary pro cautions then everything should go just fine.

My wedding is this weekend and already had a few cancellations, mostly people’s children. I totally get the fear and it’s unfortunate that this is happening now. I just take the news day by day the best that I can.

So the reason why I cancelled (12 days prior) was because my fiancé’s parents and sister live in different countries and were denied by their doctors from traveling last minute due to the outbreak and they are immunocompromised. I could not let the marriage happen knowing my fiancé doesnt have his family with us for this, even though my fiancé said it was up to me. Thankfully all my vendors were willing to work with me on rescheduling with no fees. Some even offered to give full refunds. We decided to postpone a full year, to give time for our guests and also to let enough time pass for this outbreak. The date is a full tear because the dates mean something to us although we couldnt line up the exact dates with our vendors availability. So now we have decided to go to court on our scheduled wedding date and next year we will have a “vow renewal/celebration of marriage” so we can still have our wedding entourage, vows said out loud, my dad walk me down the aisle, and the special wedding dances too, with everyone to celebrate with. It sucks because its a long time from now and I had to cancel very close to date but at least I am prepared for our wedding for the most part lol

Also not to mention, more and more people kept cancelling as the date got closer because the spread of virus is getting worse

Mine is the 21st, I have had most of my family cancel which I told them it was ok although I am sad about it. I would rather them around for longer. The 21st is our dating anniversary and I don't want to wait another year either, especially since I just spent the last year and a half planning. We are a little nervous with Inslees decoration of no events over 250 and events under must have approval. I am very neverous our city ran venue is going to shut down. So far we have these back up plans:

    Friends property

    Park

Casino (tribal land doesn't have to follow the rules)

    A resturant

Our Apartment with our cats and parents

    Best of luck

Oh no I am so sorry to hear! My parents are still coming but they are under 50. My family who has to fly has cancelled. Glad to see all your vendors were helpful!
