Combining Silver and Gold?

Caryn, on February 16, 2023 at 5:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

The colors I was planning on for my November wedding are burgundy (tablecloths/bouquet flowers) and gold (candleholders and chargers). These colors will look amazing in the venue. However, I just found my dress and the beading is more silvery. Do I need to rework my whole color scheme? Is there any way to incorporate the dress without it looking totally disjointed?

That is a detail that only you will notice. Your guests will see it as a pretty accent color and move to the next thing.

I understand where you’re coming from! Perhaps you can do mixed metals at different tables? Gold candleholders and silver chargers and then at a different table, silver candleholders and gold chargers?

Or maybe you can keep all gold accents and have a table with mixed metal frames displaying your families previous wedding photos, some gold and some silver frames?
Or you can change all the metal accents to silver.
Nevertheless, I don’t think you have to change anything. If you love your gold metal accents I think you should keep them. The majority of your photos will be away from these gold accents. Good luck and let’s us know what you decide!

Rose gold looks best with our colors so we’ve been planning our decor accordingly, but my engagement ring is and wedding band are white gold. So the jewelry I’m getting is all white gold/silver. I panicked for a minute or two but ultimately decided meh, I’m the bride, I’m supposed to stand out anyway. So maybe I’m the wrong person to ask, but I think you’ll be fine. We are considering some other metal mixing, though not because of my jewelry.

That's such a great point. I am likely the only one who would notice/care.

I agree that as long as it looks intentional (mixing gold and silver on the tables) it will likely be fine. I'll probably go with mixed metals and burgundy, which won't be much of a switch. Thanks!

WOW what a gorgeous dress!!!! And I agree with PPs that only you will notice. Now that I think of it, I think most weddings I've been to have also had gold accents in the decor but silver beading/jewelry for the bride.
