Nope, I was a dancer for 16 years and I refused to choreograph the first dance. It's our first dance as a couple, I want it to be us, I want to take the moment to relax, and enjoy our time together in the spotlight celebrating our love. I don't want to worry about what move comes next or FH forgetting the steps.

We took 10 dance lessons for our first dance! We learned a whole routine. There was a part where he lifted me in the air and our guests were shocked. It was honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole wedding!

Also a dancer and I hate this. A wedding isn't a show. I don't want my guests to sit and watch, I want them to have fun! Plus, unless your a professional, it's never going to come out how you want.

    Hard Pass.

I am a hard pass also. My friend and her husband are professional dancers and they did a very choreographed dance, and it was amazing (I had never seen them dance in person), but I think a lot of people who had see it a bunch (since they both compete professionally) were not as interested as I....

    That’s completely understandable

we would definitely both be well below amateur lol

but SO musically inclined so can move at least

i don’t think I can actually physically pull off a dance lol

ive been smoking like 14/15 years lol

i May need ambulances if we get to end for oxygen lol

    its cute though

    I think that’s so awesome

I definitely could go more along with something like this but I was a cheerleader for years: moving gracefully isn’t my thing lol

this one seems like guy can move and girl is more like me and can easily learn moves but not look terribly awesome doing them but it’s still sweet

and better than SO going own way probably

i have a feeling “it’s happening” lol the question he’s really asking is am I in or out lol

Yeah ours wasn’t anything like this. We took classes from a professional ballroom dance teacher.

Actually I just think this is beyond our skill level, mutual talent, and umm
i don’t want to and know he’s going to do this now that he’s sending me this instead of working (guy works like 70-100 hours a week and never wants to bring up wedding stuff; but always plays nicely and contributes opinions when asked)

    im just thinking

    ummmm

    NO

It was $100 per class so $1000 total. It was really fun for us and we made a date night out of it. We both agreed it was our favorite part of wedding planning.

That’s not unreasonable for what you got

i just think it’s something that should include a professional if you’re going to do it

And there are people a professional cannot even help and I’m one

We did a choreographed dance and it was so much fun! We took pro ballroom lessons and learned a foxtrot to Fly Me to the Moon and we didn't tell a soul about it (except our DJ). Everyone was completely blown away and loved our dance so much. I would recommend keeping it to the typical first dance timing recommended by most DJs, which is 2-3 minutes. Our was about 2.5 minutes.

As far as pro vs amateur, ii you give yourself enough time in the studio to learn the style of dance and the choreography, it could come out looking really good. My background as a professional ballerina helped me pick up the choreography quickly, although the foxtrot is nothing like ballet. My husband on the other hand, has two left feet and was terrified at the start of our lessons that he wasn't going to be able to dance at all (it was his idea to take lessons!). He did such an amazing job! We had so much fun dancing in front of our friends and family and had so much fun taking lessons, we still go to the studio for lessons, 3 months after our wedding. Our instructor wants us to compete!

We're not necessarily choreographing but we are taking lessons so that we can do more than just stand in each others arms and get our feet stepped on. They have done a mini-intro that feels a little choreographed, but I don't mind it. Other than that, they are just teaching us some basic steps and turns (and maybe a lift! Smiley love ) but it's on us to work them in as we see fit

Any choreographed dances at weddings make me cringe. They're never as good as people think they are.

So my dad and I actually did a choreographed dance lol It was his one and only request, that we start off with a slow dance and then hop into Uptown Funk. We practiced and we practiced and we practiced, but it didn't matter lol we both still messed up a few moves on the wedding day, but no one cared. Everyone was just so stoked & excited to see our choreographed dance that no one even noticed the little mishaps.

I say do it, have fun, and don't stress if any of the moves get messed up!
