Cathedral Veil at Alter

I just bought a 16 ft veil and I was planning to leave it stretched out down the aisle. I don’t know if I would be able to position it to the side as it is kind of wide.

My cathederal length veil will be moved in place by a member of my wedding party stretched out down the aisle. Like Chrystal. Then she'll help move it before the recessional.

Alright good to know! I guess I also should have mentioned my wedding will be outside so I would like to make sure it can blow with the wind. I also know my veil is heavier so the bottom shouldn't move!

I mean the only other option is this way that I know of, but I definitely like the side draped way that you posted!

I like how the pictures turn out better when side draped.

This is something I've been constantly thinking about too! I also have a cathedral veil and wasn't sure how I want it to be either. I think I'll talk to my photographer and wedding coordinator and figure out what will work best.

Althought my veil is wide, it won't be spread out as much as in these pics. I've put gathers so it has alot of fullness. I think if you have details that you want shown, there is nothing wrong with having it off to the side. It's usually your MOH job to move your veil, or to adjust it. I've bought two gowns for bridesmaids. No idea if I'll have either, but if I do, there is room for them to just the left of me. If outside, or in a cathederal, they can stand back like in the scene from the SOUND OF MUSIC. Down here, the MOH placing the brides veil, if cathederal length, is a "too do" and guests all cran their necks to watch this take place. Hope I've helped. P.S. If you watch the Royal Weddings all of their veils, with few exceptions, also go straight back.

View Quoted Comment Right, but I think I would like it similar to this through the whole ceremony so my bridesmaids could be closer and if it blows (again I am outside) it will blow behind. I would like to face my partner, not my officiant. So I am sideways to the officiant ( I can rotate a little or turn my head) and then sideways to our friends and family. I just prefer my face to be seen and the veil to go behind my back 🙂

When you said, " if it blows, it will blow behind." I thought you meant the wind! 😁 I, now, realize you meant your veil. 😂There is no hard and fast rule on where your veil is placed. Just traditionally it stays in the aisle. You will look beautiful!!! Can't wait to see all of our veils in our BAM's.
