Cash funds

Brittany, on April 14, 2022 at 8:18 PM Posted in Registry 1 6
Good evening, I was wondering if anyone has some advice on cash funds for your registry. Originally I was going to put gift cards in different amounts for our cruise line, but they have in the last few months stopped doing gift cards. I read an artical on Pinterest about some cash funds having fees. Does anyone have advice on which ones don't have fees preferably for both the gifter and us? Or if they charge a fee to cash out is that one fee for the total or per transaction?

I’ll be interested to see what others say, but fees are just a part of payment processing. I used Zola for my registry and had the option to either put the processing fee on my guests or on the amount we receive and I chose to put it on my guests. It’s not a part of the transfer process, so there’s no additional fee to transfer it to our bank account.

Ooops, accidentally hit the reply button lol
I was trying to say… I don’t think there exists any cash funds that do not take fees out- that is how the company makes their money. Instead of doing cash registries, most people choose to just not have a registry at all. If there is no registry, most guests will get the hint and default to gifting you cash/checks.

This is what we did as well. We also included gift cards for places like Home Depot as we're doing a lot of repairs and updates on our home

I think they all have fees, as it's how they make their money. We're using Honeyfund, which has low fees, and you can tailor it to different things people can gift you. My MOH actually used it 10 years ago for her cruise honeymoon and people had the option of contributing specific things for that cruise (massages, tours on the islands they stopped at, private dinners etc). You can have it be for your honeymoon, your house - whatever you want!

Or, and I haven't actually seen anyone do this but I'm sure they have - you could always set it up so that your family/friends can just Zelle/Venmo/Cash App you.

I think Zola has the lowest fees, but it was easier to use The Knot to add the few physical gifts we wanted. And frankly the difference between the two was negligible when I looked at the real costs, so we went with The Knot.
