Caribbean Honeymoon in June?

Holly, on July 23, 2019 at 3:37 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11
My FH and I want to go to one of the Caribbean islands for our honeymoon. We’re getting married June 2020 - we know June is basically the start of rainy/hurricane season on those islands so I’m looking for some advice from people who have gone during this time. Did it rain a lot and if so, did it impede your trip at all? Is it really just luck of the draw? We really want to go right after our wedding but I’m also scared of being rained out of our plans! We’re specifically thinking either the Bahamas, Jamaica or Cayman Islands.

We went to the Dominican republic last June and are planning our honeymoon for june next year in Jamaica.
The weather was perfect in DR and we had no issues at all.

You should be okay in June. Most of the time, all you'll experience is a passing rain shower. Would you feel more confident in your choice if you purchase trip insurance?

I personally LOVE the Cayman Islands! Do you have an idea of what kind of vacation you'd like to have?

That’s reassuring, I definitely don’t mind rain as long as it’s passing through and there are still chunks of the day that are sunny and productive. To be honest, I don’t really understand what trip insurance is/what it would cover or protect me from. We’ve only done one international trip together and we didn’t have trip insurance then.

We’re hoping to find an all inclusive resort that is on or near the beach, has dining options, bars, pools, etc. We just want to relax in the sun and maybe take 2 or 3 excursions like snorkeling or a boat ride that would hopefully be connected through the resort. Hopefully we’re not conjuring up some magical idea in our heads that doesn’t actually exist lol

You won’t find all inclusive resorts in the Cayman Islands, so Jamaica or the Bahamas would be your options. Trip insurance policies cover various things, including trip cancellations due to bad weather. It’s definitely not necessary, but if it’s within your budget (it’s not too expensive usually), you should look into it. Hope you have a great honeymoon!

Did you get trip insurance through a travel agency or is it just something you got separately?

I got it through my travel agent. We went with a AAA agent I went to school with.

Hi there, I just saw your comment and thought to reach out to you. With the current global pandemic, my heart goes out to you. My wedding is next year. I can't imagine spending so much time, effort, money etc. Then comes a global pandemic to interrupt it all. You and all the 2020 brides are in my prayers. God bless
