Can't find a venue... St. Louis mo

Laura, on June 22, 2019 at 2:50 PM Posted in Missouri Planning 0 13
My fiance and I are getting married next March in the St. Louis area and can't find a venue. He has social anxiety and so we are opting for a private wedding-- just us, my school aged kids (8 and 11 by the wedding), our witnesses, the officiant and a photographer.

I want a place that has a pretty backdrop (like you would find at the butterfly house, botanical gardens etc, heck Meramec Caverns even) but every place we try wants to treat it like a full blown wedding-- setup, tear down, seats for guests, 2 hours etc.

We just need like 30 minutes of privacy so we cam say our very simple vows. No prayers, no blessings or bible readings, no music, procession, no formal speech etc. Just a few minutes each to make our promises, a second to swap rings, kiss, sign the paperwork and leave.

Our problem is that wedding venues are sayomg that we need to pay for the whole wedding package even if we don't "need" it. I guess it is easy money for them. We can wleven be flexible of the time. Got a wedding at 4 and one at 8? Okay.... can we pop in and pay a few bucks to say pur vows whilst you wait for new party to arrive?the answer is a resounding NO.

Anyone have ideas on a place that would accommodate us? Most places won't even reapond to my inquiries...

Would you be able to do something like this on the Hyatt rooftop at the arch?
Or 360 at the Hilton that overlooks the ballpark?
    Moonrise hotel?
Or even like at Start Bar (I like the vibe that building has.) Or just at one of the smaller breweries?
(I had a similar headache with hotels. I wanted a ceremony and they wanted 5k for me to be there 30 minutes.)
My other suggestions would be if a restaurant has a party room? Idk if Baileys Range does, but that might be cool.

We were trying to keep it at a few hundered bucks. The butterfly house offered it for $500 but even then it included chairs and music etc...

Does it need to be a wedding venue? Or somewhere you would need to get permission?

Go to say, Castlewood State Park, and I don't see who could stop you.

W Karaoke Lounge in the Loop charges for private rooms by the hour that are absolutely gorgeous, and they've even had bridal companies take model pictures in there.

It may be a drive but there's a place called Bridal Cave at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. They do weddings like that. We toured the cave and they told us about it.
