In all seriousness, flights from Houston to Cancun are super cheap, as well as all-inclusive packages. There is alot to do aside from the beach such as visiting the ruins Xcaret, etc

I agree yucky water! FH took me to New Orleans for my bday 2 years ago it was so nice. You don't have to drink to have fun. I had fun eating the foods and just being in the atmosphere of the city. I think it would be a nice little getaway. My bms are planning my Bachelorette party in New Orleans. eta:try kings crossing.com I'm using them to plan my honeymoon to France next year.

I also recommend Mexico. All-inclusive vacation packages are actually very reasonable and it makes you feel like you're indulging, when you aren't! Your money goes much farther in Mexico than it does in the US!

I think you both should sit down and talk about the main things you are looking for on your honeymoon. If you don't drink, do you want a relaxing honeymoon? Do you want adventure? Do you want to sightsee, or sit on a beach? I think you should both come up with a list and compare them, and then try to find a location that will work well for both of you. The honeymoon is supposed to be fun! So, get on the same page before you do any more research.

When is the wedding? How much can you realistically save up? Could you postpone the honeymoon so you have time to save more money and go to a place you both agree to?

I don't remember when you are getting married, but it looks like you and FH can fly roundtrip on Southwest for ~1K (staying a full week). Through Kayak, you can fly for $800 roundtrip on Spirit airlines.

Wait - just checked Expedia and they have some great bundles. You can stay a full week at an all-inclusive with roundtrip airfare for just over $2k. Live Aqua was a big hit with several people I know and it is on the list of potential options. ~$2900

ETA - a selling point for you FH is that the flight time is right at 2 hours. It will take less time to get to Cancun than it would to drive to Corpus. And the beaches are so beautiful! (DH and I LOVE to travel through the Mayan Riveria)

We are booking through cheapcarribean.com! They have all-inclusive resorts and the price includes your flight! I'm not sure what your budget is, but we are flying out of Richmond to Cancun and staying for 8 nights and it's right at $2,000.

Our wedding is in May, so right now we're planning on taking a mini honeymoon. Our budget is less than 1k so we don't have many options

You don't need a beach to have a nice honeymoon. What about visiting some cute bed & breakfasts in Texas hill country like Fredericksburg or something? Not a heck of a lot to do, but you can definitely make it romantic

@Kris I thought of doing the Texas Hill Country, but it's really expensive for a few nights up there. I did see some good deals on Groupon though

Also I've heard Asheville, North Carolina is a gorgeous place to visit from several people. It's on our list if Santa Cruz doesn't work out.

I think you could really make New Orleans work if you stay away from Bourbon Street! There are other areas without drinking or crazy nightlife -- for example the Garden District is beautiful, historic, and quiet! Lots of good food options.

@Spazzy that was fh's point of view is that we can take a later honeymoon. I wasn't on board with it at first but it's starting to grow on me.

If your date is flexible, check out groupon in the getaways tab. You might find something that would work for your budget that you can both get excited about.

Hello I am from Canada so I Google Corpus Christi TX this is what I found not very appealing... I am wondering if there is another place near by that you could both compromise on. What's your budget if we knew we could help. Maybe adding on invites cash money very welcome for honeymoon fund. I am thinking about doing that...
