Can anyone recommend some venues in Chicago or the Chicago area that allow byo catering(or offer good bbq catering options)??

I'm planning a 100 guest wedding and I'm hoping for a loft or gallery venue that would let me have casual buffet style bbq. I have always wanted a specific restaurant(Smoque) to do the catering for our wedding because its delicious and affordable but I'm quickly learning that after hiring staffing it won't matter much. I'm trying to stay at $100-$120 a plate including rentals if you have full service catering option.

Its so hard to find a BYO-catering venue that I'm open to other style venues. Have you ever had good bbq at a wedding? What venue? What caterer?

Can you ask that restaurant what venues they’ve catered at in the past?

I'm trying to but it looks like they're catering office is swamped(which has put a real strain on communication). It's been a few days and no one has been available to give me any info yet.

So far I can only see that they have worked with one full service catering company before. I was even able to find venues that, that catering company works with. When i talked to a venue, the caterer wasn't on there approved list so I'm stuck for a while.

Have you looked into Salvage One? Really cool space! They have a list of caterers they work with, might be worth checking to see if your ideal caterer is on it!

I'm actually looking at them right now! I haven't tried anything from their caterers but I'm going to see if they have a menu similar to what I'm looking for and then I'll try and go from there to set up some sort of tasting.

We are using Uncle Bub's out of Westmont! They only do buffet style and the food that we tried is amazing. Our sit down meeting with Mark, the owner, was 2.5 hours long (much longer than we expected) and that sold us (besides the food of course). He was very personable and you can tell he cares about each wedding he caters. He lets you add as little or as much to your package as you want and he'll tell you where to save money as well. We're spending a little over $6,000, for about 130 people, but that does not include alcohol. He outsources it to a liquor store, which is something we were looking for.
