Calling all Criers: Did you cry, and if so when?

Rosie, on February 12, 2022 at 7:10 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 37

Are you an emotional type? Are you a sympathy crier? I've cried watching Beauty and the Beast, when the farmer sang to the pig in Babe, and in countless episodes of Say Yes to the Dress, so chances are, I WILL cry on my wedding day.

I am also pretty practical when it comes to handling emergency/public situations though, so I am expecting (and hoping) that I won't cry during the ceremony because I'll be too busy just dealing with it, but I do expect to cry during my hair and makeup, when I'm getting ready, just... generally, lol.

SO! My fellow criers! DID you cry? If so, WHEN did you cry? Was it exactly what you expected or at a different time? Tell me everything!

I expect I will at some point. Maybe during the first look, but more likely when coming down the aisle or reading my vows!

I usually cry just by watching TV show dramas and reading novels (I get so invested in the characters), so I really hope I don’t cry… would hate to ruin my makeup 😂 I’m honestly surprised I haven’t cried yet (not during the proposal or when I said yes to my dress). I’m expecting it will happen when I’m walking down the aisle though.

And so many Disney movies make me cry, even if I’ve seen them a million times… 🥲

Aww I feel like crying in the first look is the perfect time! Much less embarrassing than when you’re in front of everyone, and maybe you’ll get it all out of your system before the vows happen!

Mm agree. One of the reasons I wanted a veil - so I couldn’t clearly be seen, lol!

I'm hoping I won't cry during the ceremony! I'm not really an overly emotional person, but I potentially would cry during the ceremony, most likely either during the vows (we're writing our own) or once we're pronounced husband and wife (especially since we postponed from 2020 to 2022, and the moment where we're finally married will finally be here!!). Hoping I can hold off until after the ceremony, lol!

Oh I feel all of this so hard! Same for us!! From the personal vows to the postponement, haha! (Although ours was 21-22 so not quite as long as you guys, even though it feels like years!!)

I had a first look and only teared up for a moment. During our ceremony I started crying towards the beginning of our ceremony. Towards the middle to end of the ceremony my fiancé started crying. It was easier for me not to cry then because I wanted to be strong for him and make him feel better.

I'm such as crier, and FH knows it and thinks it sweet since he isn't. I cried in the old Beauty in the Beast, COCO, I'm crying now watching Miss Potter (her fiancé just dead). I know I'll walking down the aisle to my love. I don't know how my make-up will survive. Good thing I plan to get myself a handkerchief.

I'm crier. I cry when I'm happy, sad, angry, frustrated, etc. Every emotion.

Honestly, though, I was so *busy* on my wedding day that I didn't cry. My husband and I did a First Look just in case I started crying, and the only time I teared up was because my husband had a quiver in his voice when he first saw me. And my voice cracked a little during vows, lol, but thankfully no tears!

So I’m getting married January 28th. I am a very emotional person, something my fiancé actually admired about me for some reason. My family (moms side) is doing bingo for every time I cry that day. My fiancé wanted in but they told him no. Hahaha thanks honey!

Anyway, I’ve cried a few times. The night I got engaged I cried about 5 times from pure joy. I cried out of frustration when we looked at two venues in a day and realized it was gonna be harder then I thought. And I cried thrice when trying on dresses. It was the same dress and it was the dress I said yes to. The third time I cried in it was because I said yes. The second time my consultant had positioned me in a way my fiancé would see me coming down the isle and I actually saw him! The first time I thought “Memmy would like this dress”. Memmy is my fiancés grandmother who passed away three days before I tried the dress on the first time.
Needless to say there will be A LOT of happy tears on January 28th.

Aww, that is very sweet. IMO, there's nothing wrong with tears! At my sister's wedding she had one moment during hair/makeup where she got choked up and the hair and makeup ladies rushed to distract her, which made me wonder if I should forewarn them? Crying will just be me being so, so happy and emotional the day has finally come, and not anything for them to worry about, beyond the obvious - having to redo any makeup, haha!

I cry all the time so I was worried about this too!! But I cried when I was getting ready, and then again once I was ready. Once I got to the ceremony and saw all of thr cars and people I started to cry again🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ But that was it. Once the ceremony started and I started down the aisle I was fine and didn’t cry anymore after that.

I was the same! Didn't cry during the proposal, but I did when I got my dress. And I'm not a crier.
