Calling All Anime Lovers

Julija, on August 6, 2022 at 9:09 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
Hey everyone! So I’m a complete Anime, Studio Gibli, Disney, Pixar, and Dreamwork nerd, and have decided to walk down the aisle to a song well versed in those genres (obviously slowed down and romanticized in a piano, harp, or guitar format). I’m currently finding different songs and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I’m currently leaning towards the ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ main theme, but if I go with that it would be that song for the entire procession as we have a wedding party of 6 people and the song is about 4 minutes long. I’m not sure if my FH will be alright walking down with that. I asked him about it and he seems up in the air. He is thankfully vocal about things he does and doesn’t like, but he also knows that the little details are what are important to me. To note, he’s a fan of everything I listed but anime and Studio Gibli, but he’s also more traditional than I am in regards to this kind of stuff. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

For inspiration - take a look at Vitamin String Quartet, they have some covers of the genre you are looking for that is great. They do a beautiful version of Merry-Go-Round of Life from Howl's Moving Castle.

Also some of my faves (that are instrumental already) (Song title then Film) (I found all these on Spotify):

    Married Life - Up

    Wedding Announcement - Little Mermaid

    Happy Ending - Little Mermaid

All Of You - Encanto (check out the album Disney Guitar: Peaceful its a beautiful version)

I See The Light - Tangled (From the Disney Princess Piano album... gorgeous)

Second Star to the Right - Peter Pan (From Disney Peaceful Piano: Love Songs)

So This is Love - Cinderella (From Disney Peaceful Piano: Breathe)

As you can tell, I'm a Disney girl myself. Some of these when done on piano or guitar - you won't know that its from a movie unless you really know that song. Check out the Disney Peaceful piano and guitar albums - they are really beautiful renditions!

We walked down to Sparkle from the anime film Your Name. There's a great violin cover on Spotify.

My husband and I are anime/video game fans as well. I understand the struggle of feeling like the song is too long, as we only had 9 people walking down and we chose a song that really can't be cut down or faded out early.

I don't think you need to find something else, just get a shorter arrangement! For example, there's a YouTuber who does wedding marches of movie songs and he has one from HTTYD that's only 3 minutes: https://youtu.be/w_JFpLlkXFQ
