Busty Brides - cups?

Melissa, on December 7, 2017 at 12:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hi all, I went shopping this past weekend with all the girls in tow. I have found the dress! But now I am having doubts about cups vs other options for my large bust. I am a full cup 34DD or 34D depending on where the bra is from. The sales person suggested cups but I am worried it won't be enough support, I generally avoid any clothing that I can't wear a regular bra. I am thinking they might be able to make the straps fitted enough for support and with the cups will add the shape. Thoughts?

I'm a 36DD and will 100% be wear a long line underwire bra with my strapless dress. The girl at the salon and my mother both told me they think cups should be fine - but I know I will want the extra security and support of having a bra.

I honestly think its how comfortable you are. I know I wont feel secure without one so I'm getting one. If you think you would be fine then lots of people do well with just cups. Since your dress has straps that might work but its entirely up to how comfortable you feel.

That looks sheer in the middle so it doesn't look like any kind of strapless would work. I am similar sized - 34DD-DDD and I would see if they can do the rest of the alterations first - then try it on and see if you can go without the cups. I find that with most things the cups don't really offer much more additional support - just bulk. GORGEOUS dress !

ETA: Agree w @EngineerInLove re: taping - I have used kineseo tape which is easier on the skin than most adhesive tapes and it stays on all day.

34D/DD, I've worn cups in a number of dresses and they've always worked out fine. A lot of people recommend taping as another option, which I think would work well with this dress.

I'm in the same boat, my dress has a similar neckline and is backless. I'm looking into long line bras, but I am hoping having cups sewn in will be enough. I've had them sewn in for BM dresses in the past and have been fine, but 2 out 4 had corset backs so that may have played a role.

Thanks all! I think I will do cups and see how I feel in the dress once it comes in and in altered. Hopefully, the tailor will be able make suggestions too if I am not feeling supported enough. Tape sounds like a great option too!

@An thank you! yes It is a drop neckline, not what I was expecting to like as I am pretty modest but its very elegant.

I have huge breast. ( Bigger than any size i see on this post lol) I am doing taping. I just got taped last night for my final fitting. Cups were not an option for my dress nor was any form of a bra lol the back is completely sheer and there is no boning in the dress at all to support a sewn cup.

Never been a fan of cups since they usually add bulk with little support. I was a 34F and after a reduction am now a 34D-DD. I HIGHLY recommend Perky Pears on any busty threads. I used them at my rehearsal and on my wedding day and they were amazing. They gave lift, support, and didn't budge at all. You can also cut them down to size to make sure none of the tape is visible since your middle is sheer. Good luck!

I'm a 34DD and I had cups in my gown. I felt secure all night. It feels totally different after the dress has been fit to you.

@An B K tape would be useless for this. Maybe fashion tape but K tape is not designed for fashion.

Mine is strapless and I'm a 42DD. I ordered some Perky Pears. I haven't tried them yet but I've heard a lot about them
