Bustle for sheath gown

Kelly, on May 10, 2019 at 7:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
Hi all! I finally took my dress in for alterations and I was planning on having a bustle put in. The seamstress told me since it’s a sheath gown and lace it would show if she put a button or hook and eye closure bustle in. She suggested just pinning it up with a large pin. Has anyone else been told this or is anyone else doing this? I found some pretty pins on Etsy, I’m thinking about getting one and having someone just pin it up for me. I’m definitely ok with saving the money but should I get a second opinion? Thoughts? TIA!

I would get another opinion from another seamstress, doesn’t hurt to ask. If that person says the same thing you take it from there.

It doesn’t hurt to see if another seamstress knows a better way to do this! However I can see what the first seamstress was saying, there’s no way to put anything on your dress to attach the train to without it showing while it’s unbustled. But there might be another way!

I got a bustle between the lining of the dress and the outer part of the dress. The outside of the dress tucks underneath. I would definitely ask another seamstress to be sure!

I agree with the others—get a second opinion. I had a lace dress, and it wasn’t a tight sheath but it could be bustled. It had buttons, so that any attachment would blend.

Do you like the look of an under bustle? That doesn't require anything on the outside of the dress.
