Buffet Reception dinner

Paola, on May 12, 2022 at 9:55 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
Hi Guys! I’m having a buffet reception style with a half hour cocktail and I have no idea what type of food I should have, I’m Dominican and my fiancé is Italian and Irish. Since it’s going to be a buffet what type of food would be best to have?

That would depend a bit on your venue and the size of the guest list. Some venues have preferred caterers that they like to work with.

Is there anything you and your fiancé prefer? Go with what you want to eat on your day, as long as the venue is ok with the caterer you choose. You can do fajitas, bbq, chicken fried steak/chicken are real popular here in Texas. You have a ton of options!

We have worked with mission BBQ and for an hour long cocktail hour we had kettle chips and meatballs and cheese and crackers. We had beer, wine and cider, ice tea, lemonade and couple options for soda (noone touched the soda). For the buffet dinner we had selected options from their menu (shredded chicken, two types of sausages, brisket, mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, beans, cornbread, dinner rolls, apple cobbler and we did little s'mores kits ourselves since the venue had firepits). We had leftovers, but not too much and we packed them for our neighbors. It was wonderful and I am glad we did not go too overboard. I feel like if I had too many choices I would order way too much food and overwhelm the guests with options.

Does your venue have a required caterer you already committed to when you signed the venue contract or is it blank slate that allows any licensed caterer? What do your guests enjoy?
