Budgeting / diy

I’m trying to make my wedding affordable & maybe try to DIY it as much as possible since I don’t come from money & my fiancé doesn’t either. We are basically paying for our own wedding, I understand saving money is the key. What is a reasonable wedding budget? Are we having a wedding to soon? This year in September, and we just got engaged in November. I want a nice wedding but I’m worried that for trying to keep it budget friendly it’s not going to happen and I’ll be depressed thinking about it forever.
We are printing our Save The Dates and the wedding invites off, so that is saving us some money. Our wedding cake is made by his aunt so it’s not costing us. Our venue isn’t expensive at all and my parents are paying for it. I feel like mostly just the decorations and set up is where it’s gonna cost. I don’t know I’m so nervous.

Our theme is beauty and the beast, so roses is what we are using. Flowers is kinda a big thing but at the same time not. We could use fake flowers.
We aren’t getting a DJ, we are just using multiple playlists, cd’s, etc. no alcohol, so it saves us there, and then food is kinda a big thing. Lol. I’m just so nervous!!

I'm doing pretty much a DIY wedding too, West Virginia and in September.. I'm using fake flowers, I'm having a small ceremony and throwing all the money into the reception, and we're even having a close friend do the cake. We are cutting costs wherever is logical. Cousins doing Photography and videography at a discount. I would just say do what you can, but try not to burn yourself out with the DIY give yourself time or get some friends to help! I wish you luck!

What is your budget and how many guests are you inviting? Have you purchased your wedding dress yet? David's Bridal is having a sale and have a few for $100-$200. I can give you several inexpensive ideas but need to know an overall budget. I can put together a spreadsheet with ideas.

For setup ask family and friends instead of hiring someone. ( if your like me you don’t want to be a burden on anyone, but if there your true friends they won’t feel like it’s a burden they’ll be more than happy to help!) Decorations try amazon and look for sales also flowers are costly so maybe fake real touch flowers if there not super important to you. For your dress watch for sales at David’s bridal and they usually have good sales online also, if your dress doesn’t have to be ordered you can also lay it away which helps! Maybe keep the groom in simple attire instead of a big suit 🤷🏼‍♀️ Guest list small to keep food cost down. Only do your bouquet and throw away bouquet instead of everyone having one. BYOB for guest as alcohol is pricey! Don’t give every guest a plus one! Also hire a photographer just for getting ready pics/group shots/ceremony and tell all your guest to take lots of pictures at the reception and you should be set!
