Bubble Machine?

fsuchick97, on April 30, 2009 at 12:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hi everyone....My fiance and I reached the six month countdown mark last week...YEY!!! Now that it seems "close" I'm starting to think specifics and thought of an idea last night that I'd love to get your opinions on.

I was thining about buying/renting a bubble machine and putting it either at the front or back of the ceremony site (our wedding is outside near the ocean so it will have to depend on which way the wind is blowing) and having an usher or friend flip the switch just before the officiant says "you may now kiss the bride." This way the bubles start flowing as we kiss and the officant announces us as Mr. & Mrs. Also the wedding party can sort of walk through the bubbles as they leave the site.

What do you think? Any newlyweds tried this? If so, how did it work out for you?

Thanks! I appreciate your opinions and feedback!

First let me say, Love the date! lol. As for the bubbles, I love the idea. I think it will add a romantic and new twist on things. The only thing I could see is the wind being an issue. Would you be ok cutting it if the wint is too high?

But then again, it is only bubbles. its not like they are going to hurt when they hit you lol.

    Thanks for your responses!!!!

The ones I am looking at range in price from 20 at Wal-Mart to 40 for nicer ones at an online DJ supply store. I haven't looked into how much they would be to rent yet.

I had been planning to buy the little bubble containers and decorate them, so would sort of cancel out the cost of the $20 machine at Wal-Mart and would save me some time since I wouldn't have to cut and tie ribbon on 80 little bubble bottles.

If I end up buying the machine I will let you know how well it works.

I love the idea of it, and how nice it could potentially look. The only thing I would be hesitant about is the fact that the bubble solution is essentially soap, and I would be a bit concerned about the effect popping bubbles may have on guests' (and bridal party's) clothing. You'd be surprised how much residue a bubble can leave. You may want to consider aiming the machine in such a way so that you still get the effect, but your guests don't have to walk through a sea of bubbles. Just a thought...

I love the idea but I have the same concern as the previous post..Bubbles may leave a residue on certian fabrics...But thats the only down side I can think of for the bubbles..Will you have it at the reception too? Kids love bubbles!!

DJs are fond of bubble and fog machinee, since they add to lighting effects. As you pointed out, bubble machines are inexpensive and readily available (over time the bubble liquid will cost more than the machine). But, for indoor venues fog machines set off smoke alarms and bubbles when they land on the floor make for a slippery dancing surface. Since you're outdoors for a limited time, I think bubbles would be a great effect, simple, and cheap to do. Just make sure you have electrical power available so you could set up the bubble machine up wind.

If you are close to the beach something else you might consider are white doves, check it out. Wont leave a soapy residue on your guests and it is enviromentally friendly.
