Bride's gift from groom

Pat, on August 18, 2022 at 10:30 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23

So, my sweet, funny, sensitive OCD FH is worrying about what to do for my gift. Like, he wants it to be great and special, and I just keep giving him some low-key ideas but ......... he just keeps worrying!

What is it that you really hope for for a wedding gift from your groom? Or, if married, what did he give you that blew you away?

I honestly didn't care if my husband gave me a gift or not on our wedding day, but he ended up surprising me with concert tickets!

We completely skipped that part. Our wedding/honeymoon were our gifts to us as a couple. I honestly didn't even know this was a thing until WeddingWire. What blew me away were his thoughtful and heartfelt vows.

We have decided not to do gifts for this exact reason! Lol We are already spending so much money on this wedding, and so much time planning, we didn’t want to have to worry about stressing over finding the “perfect” gift for one another on top of everything else. Instead, we will be exchanging letters to one another prior to the ceremony (we really wanted to do this since we are just taking traditional vows, and not writing our own), and our “gift” to one another will be our rings and our commitment to eachother. TBH, it has alleviated so much stress doing this!!

We also skipped gifts for one another at the wedding itself. We did get a bunch of stuff for "us" on our honeymoon.

We didn’t do gifts either. It was too much to add to the list. I wrote him a heartfelt card that took several hours, probably days to write.

We aren't giving each other gifts, it seems redundant to us.

I wanted to write letters to each other and open them the morning of the wedding when we were apart. I also suggested a small gift, $15 or less. What he came up with was SO thoughtful and true to us as a couple.

If I were you I would talk to your soon to be hubby and discuss his expectations and your expectations. Is he expecting a gift? Good luck!!

Some ideas I've seen have been nice handbags, earring/ necklace/ bracelet sets, a fancy pair of shoes, scrap books, honeymoon experiences, a new watch, a nice robe, or a new dress (obviously not for the wedding lol). I've seen some really pretty necklaces that combine birthstones too that I think would make nice gifts if you like the color combo.

I gave my husband a pin with pictures of all of his loved ones, including our dog, who had passed away for him to wear inside his suit jacket. I gave it to him a few days before the wedding because it was so sentimental. He gifted me a diamond tennis bracelet before our first view.

Oddly I asked him not to give me anything my rings were enough and were a fortune in my opinion. . However I took special care to gift him his favorite Tag Huer Monaco watch that was stolen from his home years ago along with several other high quality watches. He has been wearing an Apple Watch ever since and I couldn’t stand looking at it on his arm any longer. Ironically, a week before the wedding I misplaced it and actually think I may have accidentally thrown it away as it was in packaging and I assumed it was trash. So I had to rush out and buy another. Yes expensive as hell but the look on his face when he received it was priceless!!

I made the mistake of telling him I found the most perfect LITTLE gift for him for our wedding day. That sent him on a tailspin Smiley atonished I explained that he didn't need to reciprocate, because he was gift enough for me ... but you know how that turned out. I was just curious what other brides did/received.

Initially I really wanted to do gifts, and got upset when my FH said "isn't the ring my gift to you" LOL. Looking back, yes...the ring is actually the gift and is more than enough. I requested we dig deep for our vows, write them by hand, and frame them after.

Oh man, I did this too and now my fiancé is freaking out lol. I'm just giving him a tie patch to go on the backside of his tie with photos of each of his grandfathers on it. He's super sad that both have passed so they won't be in attendance and I figured this was a nice way to include them.

If we were spending more money on gifts I'd be getting him cuff links with our dogs on them lol.

My husband and I skipped the gifts for each other. We got married and will take a honeymoon. I don’t really need the gift when I have the man
