Bridal Shower Venue - Need help!

Alyssa, on November 15, 2019 at 11:44 AM Posted in Connecticut Planning 0 3

I've already searched in the vendor section of WW but coming up empty. Here's my situation:

My mom and I are not that close. Long story short, she never got her "happily ever after" and I think she secretly resents me for getting engaged. She got pretty drunk one night and started going off on this whole "you're living my dream life spiel". Since then, she's been pretty distant with the whole wedding planning process. My FH and I are paying for the entire thing aside from the rehearsal dinner which his mother is paying for. My two younger sisters are both my MOH and planning my shower since my mom has been MIA. They're straight out of college and really don't have the money to throw an elaborate event. No one in my family has a place for us to hold it so I'm left looking for a venue. I know people will comment and say don't plan your own shower but since my sisters are so young that they've never actually been to a shower, I feel it's my big sister duty to throw them some tips and help find a cheaper option. They've already planned my bachelorette. So anyway looking for a small function room in CT or NY, one that ideally allows byob for an inexpensive mimosa bar. I've been searching the internet and coming up empty. Hoping that someone here has been to one in CT or NY and might be able to lend some tips. Thank you!

Do you have any friends or family that live in apartment/condo communities that have a rec/general purpose room? Sometimes these are rent-able for a small fee and they allow you to bring in food and drinks.

Have you looked into VFW hall's or Knights of Columbus?

    Hey there, Alyssa Smiley smile

Would you consider looking into local community halls? You may find somewhere offering an affordable space to rent and be able to bring in own food and alcohol. As Lauren mentioned, checking out rec/general purpose rooms with friends and family is also a great idea.
