Bridal Show Mary Kay Prize “winner”

Darby, on February 6, 2019 at 3:57 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 15
Mary Kay picks winners who attended local bridal shows and registered with David’s Bridal. They “give away” facial treatments and spa-like beauty packages. But... Did I actually win something? I’ve seen people freaking out about this saying that once you arrive, it’s all a scam and you are asked to pay for the services you received and the time of the beauticians. Has anyone had experience with this who can confirm this is real, and worth my time? Or, likewise, you’ve experienced this and it was all fake? Thanks!

Everyone wins this. It is basically so they can hard sell you their products. If you have time and want to try out their products, then go enjoy it, but just keep in mind it is so they can have you as a captive audience to pitch you their products.

I happen to love Mary Kay products, BUT I will say that this prize is not what you're hoping it will be.

Mary Kay consultants can't actually touch you during facials. Instead, they'll teach you how to use their products (skin care lines, makeup, etc.). And, yes, you most likely will be asked to purchase something and/or become a consultant yourself at the end. MK is a direct sales company, and bridal show prizes are another way for them to market their services.

I won one of these but didn't go through with it. When the consultant email the details it was to much. You have to promise them a certain number of guest and convince your guest to purchase something. If no one is purchasing any of their products, it mention you would have to pay for the sale person who comes out to compensate for her time and gas.

It's not a prize it's an opportunity for a hard sell from a peddler.

I received a "prize" from a woman at Mary Kay at now she continually calls, emails, texts and even sends hand written letters to both me and my maid of honor. We both have kindly told her no, but she keeps trying to contact me!

I would just ask them! What will you owe, do you pay any fees, etc. I would think it may be a true facial that is free, but they will probably try to sell you on Mary Kay the whole time or try to get you to buy something.

I "won" one of these through David's Bridal. I took my mom, sister and two friends. It was not a makeover. It was a here are a very few select items I have for you to try. She explained how to use them and we all put them on ourselves. Then about an hour of the perks of working for MK. My lady forgot all her stock at her house other than a handful of things. Her assistant didn't pack towels for us to wash our faces. I was supposed to get a "gift" for being the bride and another for the game we played. I never got either. It was about 3.5 hours of time wasted because she really just wanted us to sign up to sell or to buy what she told us about. Mine didn't cost us anything unless we wanted to buy. I could come myself or bring up to 5 people.

I’m going through with it and it’s going to be on Feb. 16. The consultant is actually coming to my house though so even if it is total crap, at least I didn’t have to go anywhere for it! 6 of my 7 bridesmaids are joining so we are just gonna make a day of it and figure out bridesmaids dresses since they will almost all be there Smiley smile

the consultant I have been speaking with said that she will teach us all how to use their products and then she will sit with us one and one for a more personal consultation about what skin products are best for our skin.

So so even if it is a giant scam, I at least know how to say no...for the most part. So I’m kinda looking forward to it!

MK is a multi-level marketing company. Any “prize” is going to be a sales pitch and an attempt to recruit you to their downline to sell it yourself. I refuse to support MLMs so I wouldn’t be taking up the offer.

I won this at a bridal show I went to! I was given the treatment completely for free, though of course they do try to upsell their products. I CHOSE to buy something because my face felt absolutely amazing after, but I was under no obligation to pay a darn thing!

I’m a MK consultant & I’ve heard lots of horror stories but this is crazy! Each person runs their business their own way but there are certain practices that are strict no-no’s. I never charge for any appointment or event! Parties, makeovers, skincare classes are meant to give people an opportunity to try products for yourself. What the heck would take 3 1/2 hrs?!! The longest running class I EVER had was an hour 15 mins! Start to finish including questions. If you like it, great then buy what you like. If not, I’m not gonna turn into some crazed stalker! I love MK products & the opportunities it’s given me. It upsets me that I have to work twice as hard to undo the rep of bad consultants. I found a good thing in MK & like to tell people about it. But it’s not for everyone. I certainly don’t do this to be “ambulance chasing” or be as dreaded as.a Student Loan officer!! My suggestion is to report these thirsty … b.. ladies. And know, we aren’t all like that.

I also received a text today from Laruen a vendor with Mary Kay from the Happily Ever Expo. I won a raffle just for registering the event and won a complimentary bridal facial and make over as well as a 20$ gift card. The message asks me to reply back for more details... After reading all these comments from everyone else I think I will not reply! No way!
