Bridal show Boudoir Scam or legit?

ArianaB, on October 30, 2017 at 8:44 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 30

So I received this text today. I dont recall signing up for this at the bridal show but I very well could have. Has anyone worked with this company? Or does anyone know if its a scam?

Haven't worked with them but my vote is scam. If you win a real prize they usually call

Just an fyi when I went to a bridal show pretty much everyone was calling me saying I won something. But they all had some sort of catch. Like attending a 90 min sales pitch but you weren't obligated to buy anything.

Never heard of them .. but beware because boudoir sessions are pricey .. I was looking into a women and her site says 350 but 1 print is 200 and a 6x6 book is 700 .. pass I'm using my wedding photog .. who does more then weddings and I will be her first boudoir shoot .. for $200 an hour but the rights to my photos

I had a lot of scam deals similar to this after attending a bridal show. I would assume its probably similar.

It may not be a complete scam, but I've heard a lot of companies tell you that you won a photo session, but the prize doesn't include copies of any of the photos, just the cost of the shoot. The company's goal is to get you to pay for the photos, rather than give you a prize for free.

    @emilym good point!

@amandah I never thought of talking to the wedding photographer, good idea!

@melissahh EXACTLY what I was thinking with a mix of a lifetime movie gone wrong. Lol. Curiousity on winning got the best of me and figured if it was reputable someone would hsve worked with them.

They blindside you with prices then overcharge. I won a free shoot from the bridal fair a $75 image credit and $100 album credit. When I had my image reveal they told me it cost $65 per image (which is ludicrous) but they charged me $95 per image. Then they said it included the standard retouching but then they charged me $120 for it. Plus $5 for lighting each image and $5 for black and white. When they gave me the invoice I was confused by didn't know what to do because they said I had to make a purchase so I didn't get to think about it or really look it over thoroughly. I spent $1,040 on only 10 images!!! And they lock you in and can't change it or cancel anything. I'm SO PISSED 😡 plus the photo shoot want even that special like everyone hyped it up to be. My photographer didn't make me feel sexy or comfortable, and to be honest didn't even try to talk to me that much. I might have justified the insane prices of if she made me feel like a queen and have a memorable experience but she didn't. Overall I'm disappointed. They tell you you won something and make it sound like a great deal and then rope you around the neck at the end. The website said prices started at $65 for images and $225 for products so I was expecting to pay $200-$400 max. Not triple. Now I can't get out of it and won't be able to afford my honeymoon because I didn't half the budget on 10 photos 🤯😵☠🤬😭😭😭😭

I just had mine done a month ago they called and messaged me saying I won $815 dollar value for Cherie amour so I called them and we talked well first you gotta pay 50 dollars to hold for your date then this is where they get you, you will have a photo reveal session and you think your getting photos for free because it comes with $75 image credit and $100 dollar photo album nope it’s only 3 pictures you can get from all that you took which mostly is 82 photos you have pick 3 you like most then you’ll end up paying $40 more cause everything “ you won went against them photos”

So I just got that same text message and phone call from Cherie Amour, which is why I came here lol. So you ended up having to pay $90 total for 3 re-touched images? Do you think it was it worth it?? That definitely doesn't sound like an $815 value...

I also got this EXACT text yesterday. I had the same question, did it end up being worth it? What was the total out of pocket for what you ended up purchasing?

I just got off the phone with them and it doesn't sound too bad... You have to pay $50 as a deposit to hold your appointment, but she said at the photo reveal that you get that money refunded. So that's mainly to make sure you go to your appointment, which makes sense. And you get either 2 digital photos or one printed one, which doesnt seem like a lot, but cool if its for free! They are definitely hoping that you buy more though! That will be where they get you! They will probably make you fall in love with your pictures, and you'll want to buy more... I asked the lady to email me the price list so i can see what the extra pictures will cost, because i know i will want to buy more. SO if you go do that, and only take your two free pictures and get your $50 back after your appointment, THEN it will be free... Im thinking of going for it!

I just received the following email with more info additional photo pricing! You get a $75 image credit, so you basically get another image?? Just literally DO NOT plan on getting more than 2 or 3 pictures out of it, and you'll be fine lollll

Thank you for reaching out! During your Image Reveal and Ordering Appointment, you will have the opportunity to build your own custom bundle of images. You can select to keep and invest in as few or many images as you would like. Images begin at $65 each and may increase based on the quantity you select. For example, 30 or more additional images would be $75/each, 20 - 29 additional images would be $85/each, 10 - 19 additional images are $95/each, and so on.

I also see you have the Classique Boudoir Package, which includes your free 75 minute-photoshoot as well as your choice of 2 standard retouched images or one 8x10" print. From there you have a $75 image credit that can be applied towards any additional digital images and a $100 album credit that can be applied towards a Layflat Album.

Our goal during the Image Reveal is to help you select as many images as possible for your budget. Keep in mind, this does not apply to your 2 free images, as those are completely complementary - you also have a $75 image credit that can be applied to the price of additional images.

Any of these images you select to invest in will also undergo complimentary Standard retouching and will be sent via secure email, full-size, high resolution for download. You will also be given the personal copyright release to these purchased images. If you would like to add additional retouching, that is able to be applied to specific images as needed for an additional investment.

If you would like to add prints, books, albums, or any other products, that can be added on to your invoice and customized during your Image Reveal as well - but keep in mind, you must always purchase the digital images first, then we can place the images into a physical product. The starting prices for products will include the physical product price, and then we will factor in the number of images depending on the size of the product.

To give you an idea of image to product ratio:

    4x6 Discreet Book: $225 + Images - Holds 10 - 12 Images

    5x7 Discreet Book: $325 +Images - Holds 10 - 12 Images or 20 - 22 Images

    Layflat Album: Starts at $475 + Images - Holds 20 - 60 Images

Once you've selected your favorite images to purchase, you will have the option of paying in full for your order or selecting a layaway plan that allows you to make payments for 2 - 7 months. IF you would like to start a layaway plan, we do require a minimum down payment of 10% + shipping + tax at the time of your appointment, then the rest can be split amongst your remaining months. Shipping is a flat rate of $20 regardless of order size.

During your Image Reveal, your personal image specialist will be able to guide you through this entire process and discuss all of your pricing options and work to find a collection of images that work best for you and your budget! We also offer occasional sales/specials, so this may be an option for you as well!

** I'm not sure how this post ended up on here, but having done a photo shoot with Cherie Amour, I can personally say they are NOT Celebrate Your Sexy! I even called to verify after reading this thread **

I also won a package from a wedding show and booked with Cherie Amour last minute. I had my image reveal last week and am absolutely in love with my pictures. I was super nervous about the shoot itself but had a really great time with my photographer and the hotel was insanely gorgeous. At the reveal, I got to look at all of my images, customize my editing, pick the images I wanted for free and then decide if I wanted to purchase more. They offered payment plans and image discounts based on how many I purchased and I was able to design an entire book within my budget. I asked for pricing ahead of time and saved some money because I knew I really wanted a product. Having shopped several other boudoir photographers in my area after winning, this one was by far the most reasonably priced and gave me the most options for purchasing images and books. They gave me the option of getting my free package only if that's what you're wanting to do - but either way, after my experience and photo shoot, I felt so amazing that I would totally recommend it to any one!

Just my experience, but I hope it helps you all!

Thank goodness I read a lot of negative reviews and just did my shoot today. I have a follow up/reveal appointment by two weeks. I really want to get the album, it sounds like it’s going to add up fast. I thought the prints were $25. I guess I’ll find out when I go to follow up.

It’s a whole experience. The shoot is cool and the pictures ARE good but if I had known how much they cost from the beginning I wouldn’t have done it. I spent 1200 on 15 images. Once I got to photo reveal, I had already invested so much (lingerie, makeup, hair, time, energy, expectations). It is what it is I guess. Almost fell off my chair when I saw the price sheet.

Each digital image you have to purchase first costs an exorbitant amount of money.

For one digital image it costs 145$ and then costs less per image the more you buy. 20 images was going to be like 1900

I am so glad I came here to read the reviews 😭 although I already paid the $50 for the appointment. I would rather make my sister take my picture and I’ll print them. No way I’m going to spend $1200 for less than 10 pictures💀

I had the same experience as all the women above. I also won the same package that others won.

My photographer, Ritz, was very outgoing and made me feel comfortable during the photo shoot. So I believe it depends on which photographer you get.
In addition to everyone else’s comments about price—I definitely felt like they blindsided you on thinking that the package you won was amazing! On their website, they do disclose the two/three step process, where you are obligated to choose a certain amount of photos prior to choosing an add-on. I was going in thinking of just purchasing an album, which requires 18 images, that you have to pay for, in addition to $400+ for the album. I was wrong! I do wish that they had their pricing for the images alone on their website, the first step you go through. They do not go over that unless you ask for the pricing prior to your photo reveal or during your photo reveal virtual meet. Definitely do your research before locking down on something you win. A lesson learned for me.
Overall, I spent about $720 for 8 images and am doing a layaway payment plan for 3 months, which I will most likely pay the full amount before 3 months. Additionally, I only have access to these photos digitally. I am still beating myself up for how much this ended up being for only 8 images, when the photographer took 92 photos. My head was blown when she told me that 62 images was going to cost me $6000+.
My suggestion to all you ladies out there—if you are wanting to do a Boudoir photo shoot, do your research. Most likely photographers locally are way cheaper than companies like this. And they offer way more amount of photos that are included in the price that you pay for them to do a photo shoot. I wish I went with the photographer that took me and my fiancés holiday photos, because she was charging $250 for a boudoir session (including 20 images). I also did not do my research prior to agreeing on this photoshoot with Cherie Amour. If you are going with a fancy company like this, expect to pay over $1000+, because I was not expecting that.
