Boudoir Shoot Feedback... (Blunt, but Still SFW)

Mrs. H, on June 19, 2018 at 3:12 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 17

Last week I started a thread seeking advice/tips for my photo shoot this past Sunday...

Well ladies, I am back and boudoir'd... is that a thing? Lol... anyway, for anyone who is on the fence about doing one/nervous for their own: here is my HONEST feedback.

Overview:

I bought four different-colored pieces of lingerie from Yandy.com - two 2-piece sets, a leotard and a lacy bathrobe (if you can call it that, lol).

Between our busy work schedules, FH and I rarely have time to play "dress up", so I thought a strictly-lingerie photo shoot would be the perfect gift for him.

I did NOT bring any props (i.e., pearls, bouquet, garter, etc.) because I wanted the focus to be on my body and outfits alone, and I'm honestly glad I didn't.

The Shoot:

TRUST your HMUA (if they provide one)

Before this photo shoot, I had never had my makeup professionally done. Mind you, I am used to wearing a full face of makeup to work every day, so I was mildly horrified when I turned around and barely recognized myself... She assured me that professional makeup turns out a lot differently in professional photos, and sure enough, she was right! Despite the heavy makeup, I looked just like myself in the actual pictures.

TRUST your photographer.

Some poses will feel extremely awkward and forced, but they turn out amazing in photos!

Unless you do Pilates/yoga regularly, prepare to be sore the next day... I held some of these poses for minutes at a time, and man am I sore - even two days later!

Last but not least, enjoy yourself, and let loose! This was the most nerve-wracking thing I have ever done, BUT it also gave me a HUGE boost of confidence and ultimately ended up being a very liberating and freeing experience for me. Smiley heart

So excited you enjoyed it! Obviously you can't (and probably don't want to) post the pictures, but I'm sure they are beautiful!

Thanks for the update. This is pretty much what I've heard from most people that have done a boudoir shoot. I can't wait to do mine!

So awesome! thanks for the advice- mine's in july and i'm nervous as all heck because this is way out of my comfort zone but would be the PERFECT gift for my FH. I'll be bringing my veil and a garter as "props" but that's all- I told her I want to focus on the silhouette and have it be romantic, sexy, and classy.

I had mine done a couple weeks ago and I loved it. Some of the pictures I got back I was like "OH Heck NO!" but that was b/c I am my own harshest critic so I noticed every bump, roll etc. The pictures were supposed to be a surprise for my FH but I had to show him, I suck at keeping surprises lol. But He loved them. The more I look at the pictures, the better I feel about the way I look.

I did mine years ago for my boyfriend (fiance now) and I so agree with all of your tips. Trust the professionals and everything will turn out perfect. I found a new sense of confidence when it was over with... so much so, that I wanted to do it again! Well... maybe not right away, because to your point... you are so sore, after holding poses for minutes at a time.

I didn't eat before mine because I didn't want to have a "food baby" in the photos and literally went to town on all kinds of food when I was done lol not sure I recommend doing that.

I'm so glad yours went well! Hope you love the final photos! Smiley heart I'm sure they turned out amazing!

I agree with everyone here. I did one last month and it was so fun. I was super nervous and wasn't used to "trying to look sexy" but the photographer made me feel so comfortable and gave great directions.

One thing I wish I know was you don't need to bring a ton of heels. All the photos I saw before had people in stilettos and they looked cool but I asked my photographer about it and she said I don't need them and I would look just as good without. This is especially important if you don't wear heels much anyway.

I am glad you girls have the guts to do something like that for your FH I wouldn't even have the guts to do that for my hubby now! I got married in May. I guess maybe if I had a great looking body lol I would do something like this but I am very ashamed of my body but since I have started school, my school has a gym so I have been working out so maybe I might get to the point someday where I am not ashamed of my body. Kuddos to you girls though for y'all for getting these kinds of gifts for your guys.
