Bleeding on Wedding Day

I was supposed to be on my period on my wedding day this Saturday, and my doctor put me on the pill to reduce the period; however, I have been breakthrough bleeding the past week. They told me I could go off it, but it would trigger a period. It sounds like I would be bleeding regardless. Do you think I should keep taking it and hope the breakthrough bleeding stops or to stop taking it? My doctor is male and I though it would be better to get female opinions.

Also, if you are bleeding during your wedding day, how are you dealing with it? I'm really worried about bleeding when people are helping me with going to the bathroom as well as bleeding through the dress.

Honestly, I'd listen to your doctor's advice rather than relying on biological sex. Having said that - I, personally, would probably stick with the pills, because I know for a fact that when I stop them it triggers a period.
If you're on your period on your wedding day, you could try a menstrual cup (I like softcups (and you can have sex with it in)). You can wear them for up to 12 hours at a time, and they don't leak because everything is kept "inside." You could double up and wear a pad as well, if you're really concerned.

I would either stay on the pill, or get the pill that is specifically made to stop your period for an event (it’s a low dose pill that you take three times per day, then stop the day you want to have your period). Worst case scenario, even if you are still having breakthrough bleeding, at least it’s not as heavy a flow as a full-blown period. I would highly recommend getting a pair of Modi Body panties to wear under your wedding dress. They have absolutely saved me on multiple occasions!
