Bleaching Arm Hair

Sara, on July 18, 2018 at 1:21 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13

I don't know about anyone else, but I have super dark hair - especially on my arms. It may be just me, but every time I take a picture or something, it seems like that's all I can see. It's really not as bad as I'm making it out to be, but I'm still self-conscious about it.

Has anyone ever bleached their arm hair? I'm kind of scared to get an allergic reaction or have something weird happen to make it worse. Ugh. I don't want my hairy arms to be too noticeable on my wedding day.

I shave my arms. Takes 30 seconds in the shower. Doesn't grow back faster or darker, but will be somewhat stubbly if I forget to do it for a few days in a row. I know its not a popular opinion, but I've got dark long italian arm hair on my pale irish skin and I hate it Smiley xd

I've never bleached my arm hair before but I shave them regularly, just like I shave my legs... Not sure if that is weird or not but I like the way it looks and feels better. You could just shave or wax them unless you're opposed to that.

I didn’t like my results from shaving but waxing isn’t bad. Just do it once before the day at least if that’s your plan so that you make sure you don’t react

I don't bleach. But I do other treatments for my upper lip hair and I help my mom dye her hair. The instructions always say to test out the product on a small portion of skin to see if you have an allergic reaction. I would definitely follow those instructions. Good luck.

I didn't like the dark hair on my arms, either. I shave them because it's easy, quick, and you don't have to deal with a reaction to chemicals.

I am the exact same way, I have very dark hair and fair skin! I’ve been waxing my arms for like 5 years now. I only do it once every month or 2 since I don’t care when it grows back a *little,* but it usually looks very good for at least 2-4 weeks for me. And when it grows back, it doesn’t grow back prickly or darker like it would with shaving!

I also use Veet brand wax strips to do it. They’re super easy to use, don’t think there’s much in it that you could react negatively to? But do a test patch first just in case. It takes me like 15-20 mins to do, quick and easy, and lasts a while!

One of my bridesmaids used to regularly bleach her arm hair but ended up switching to waxing. I never thought her arm hair was bad/noticeable, but it bothered her and waxing it made her feel much better about it than bleaching.

Whatever you decide to do, give it a try now so you know in advance what works for you/how long it lasts/etc!

I have light arm hair, but I have been shaving them for years. Its quick, doesn’t grow back darker or thicker - that is definitey just a myth! I don’t have to do it very often either.... waxing is also an option, but I have never tried for my arms. I think bleaching it would just be a pain, and you would probably still see it...

When I was much younger in the 1980s, I bleached my arm hair with Jolene. Back then, there weren't all the hair removal options there are today. In the 90s, I took the plunge and started shaving them. Takes 2 minutes and I do it in the shower. My upper arms are hairy too but for some reason the hair is light colored (unlike my lower arms) so I don't usually bother with it. I did have it waxed prior to my wedding but other than special occasions, I generally don't bother, it's not that noticeable.

If you want to try waxing, I would suggest trying it for the first time way before the day before your wedding. Try it once a few months before to see your reaction and how you like it. If you're good with it, then do it about 2 days before the wedding in case it's a little red or you get some bumps.

This is such a random topic but I ABSOLUTELY DO! I bleach my arm hair about once a month & it's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I have very very pale skin and very very dark hair. I've been bleaching my arm hair for about 10 years now and it's amazing. I feel 10x better about myself when it's done and it's sooo easy. I almost started shaving my arms in high school but I was grossed out thinking about how my arms eventually would start feeling prickly like my legs and I didn't want to shave them constantly. I use Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach and it works like a charm. ****% recommend it!
