Black Makeup Artist in Austin, TX?

Cobonie, on October 25, 2017 at 1:06 PM Posted in Texas Planning 1 26

Are there any makeup artist that have ample experience with Black women with dark skin in the Austin, Texas area? I found ONE with rigorous Googling, but I'd like to have more options and a backup if necessary.

This is actually really sad.

It's definitely a hard find in Austin. I'm not getting married here, but I did get my make up done for my engagement shoot. I went to Milk and Honey downtown. I asked for a stylist who was comfortable and familiar with doing make up on varying complexions.

You can always ask your hairstylist, if you have one, to recommend a good make up artist.

I found my MUA in Houston via Instagram and Facebook - That's the best way to be honest. I found very few elsewhere. My MUA is VERY GOOD and she will travel if you end up having to go that route. Her name is Denise Weddeborn owner of IrieJade Beauty - https://www.instagram.com/iriejadebeauty/ . Good luck!

I would suggest contacting hair salons in Austin that specialize in African American/women of color hair and ask if they have a make-up artist on staff or can suggest someone.

    Good luck!

ETA: This stylist does bridal hair and I would bet she could recommend a MUA for you. www.sheliamariestudiosalon.com

Try Munaluchi Bride's website - they have a vendor tab.

Also use IG with the hashtag #austinmua.

Lastly, if you have a photographer picked out, you can ask them for recommendations, or look up local photographers in the same manner on IG, and look to see who the tagged MUA is.

I had the same thought, Terri. If all else fails, maybe start looking in Houston, San Antonio, San Marcos, etc for MUAs who will travel.

Go to the MAC store in Lakeline mall. I had my makeup done there when I was in town.

I was hoping i wouldn't have to get a mua from another city, that would completely blow my makeup budget.

    Thanks for all the suggestions

The artist in Lakeline did a great job. I will try to find her business card. Plus if you spend $50 on product you get a makeover "free".

There’s a girl named Ann that did my graduation photos, she’s great and uses airbrush. I don’t know her last name for social media but I have her number if you’re interested.

I did a small instagram search..I don't think these artists specialize in bridal but they seem legit. I'm sure you can always do a trial and see for yourself.

    Try:

    @kyramknox or @makeup_cassie
