Best Savings Apps/accounts

Savannah, on December 30, 2019 at 11:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hello all!

My fiancé are a year and a half away and are looking to use a joint savings account or an app that we can both deposit to to keep track of our savings goals. Not so much a budgeting app, since we already have that figured out.
Any and all recommendations would be appreciated, thank you!

I don’t think any app can replace a regular savings account. We use a joint account where a percentage of our checks are automatically deposited. It’s much easier when you don’t see the money in the first place.

I agree with Caytlyn. We used the same bank even before we started dating, so we just opened up a joint account we used for rent/household bills and then wedding costs.

We bank with huntington, and use the huntington app. Same account, different balances, different cards, yet we can view eachothers information, and can easily send money back and forth. We have access to eachothers accounts like we can see where money was spent because the huntington app breaks down how much was groceries dining rent bills etc.
Also, when you use huntingtom ATMs, theres no additional charge to withdrawal. I would definitely recommend it. I know sometimes huntington gifts you a payment to open an account, but deals come and go. I got 100$ to open mine

Girl I got you! I was able to squirrel away over $6k using Qapital! It's an app where you set rules for money you make or earn. For example, I set a percentage to be pulled out of my checking every month after payday to be saved for the wedding. You can do all kinds of little things like round up purchases and more! You don't even notice the money is gone! The app costs $3 per month. If you're interested, sign up and use my code jc3ff5as or my link and we'll both get $5! https://get.qapital.com/wKWUG0FOR2

If you're looking for a savings account to just save, look for high interest ones. I use Marcus, their interest right now is about 1.9%, where my USAA savings account is 0.2%. The only downside, money takes 3-5 days to transfer to a checking account, depending on your bank. But i like that, because I am less likely to just spend it since I know it takes a couple days to transfer. Good luck!

I am doing this with my Fiance now and we use Synchrony Bank's High Yield Savings account. The APY is 1.90% and we can touch the money when we need it (which we did for deposits) but it accrues interest each month and more so than a regular savings account AND we even got an ATM card for the account, which we used for cash deposits. Both of us having an automatic withdrawal going into that account so that we do not miss the money! I put $350 a month in and he puts in $300. It does take about 4-5 days for any transfers to go through BUT the customer service is great, the interest has been great and there is no minimum balance to open and no annual fee! We also applied online so it was super super easy and convenient. There is no physical bank branch but I have a friend who works at the company and it's very reliable and legitimate! Hope this helps Smiley smile
