Bali or St. Lucia?!

Natalia, on November 25, 2019 at 12:59 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 3

How far in advance should I start planning our Bali honeymoon? Should I use a travel agent? We want to go somewhere romantic, but also do adventurous excursions/tours.

We're stuck between St. Lucia and Bali. They are both beautiful places, but Bali seems so dreamy!!

If you've been to Bali before, how was the flight?!

Bali is amazing! I would recommend using a travel agent or doing a ton of research.

I went with my parents, not for my honeymoon, but we stayed on the beach one night and then in the jungle a few nights afterwards.

The flight is long for sure but I am used to international flights and went to Bali when I was already on a trip to India so it was broken up.

It's well worth it, one of my favorite places ever! Can't speak for St. Lucia, haven't been..but I'm sure it's awesome as well

From the east coast, Bali takes almost 24 hours in the air to get to. I was there last year - DC --> Seoul ~15 hrs. Seoul --> Bali ~7 hrs. Unless you have 10 days at a minimum for your honeymoon, I would recommend staying closer to home. That said, Bali is amazing! The culture and temples are fascinating and the food is so fresh and delicious. Save up to fly business/first class, so you are well rested when you arrive!! Once you get there everything is so cheap. I got an hour massage every day... $5-8/hour!! I would definitely use a travel agent, because you will want to visit more than one area - beach/jungle/spa areas. Most of the beaches are not "lay out" beaches, as they have black volcanic sand, which turns your feet and skin black! But there are pool "clubs" on the beach that most people hang out at. Bali as a whole, is not really romantic... it is a 3rd world country, with lots of pollution, stray dogs/cats/chickens etc and the worst traffic I have ever encountered. But if you find a quiet resort off the beaten path, you will hardly notice. Hope this helps!!!
