Awful Dreams

Mrs. H, on July 23, 2019 at 8:31 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 22
Over the past year and a half (the length of our engagement), I've had my fair share of "wedding nightmares", but as of recently (the last two nights specifically), I've been having dreams that FH and I get into awful fights, and then he ends up leaving me. I wake up so sad and utterly defeated. I should also mention that FH and I are HAPPY… we hardly even bicker IRL. Is/has anyone else experiencing/experienced this so close to their wedding? What could they mean?

Yes, I have bad dreams about my fiancé all the time lately, including four last night. He doesn’t dream that often but he occasionally has bad dreams about me. I think it’s normal to have some inner anxiety about good things being taken away from you.

I haven't had the fighting dream, but recently dreamt that FH was going on dates with other women and I just politely asked him to please stop that once we get married. Lol.
We had a good laugh the next morning.
Dream symbols arent to be taken at face value. What happens in the dream doesnt mean its excatly reality. They are symbols and a way to decode your subconscious.

Oh my goodness… 4?! I'm thankful it's only been 1/night. I'm not usually one to read too much into dreams, but I think you're right - it's definitely pre-wedding anxiety.

Lol! I'm glad you were both able to laugh about that one. I did read that dreaming about your partner leaving you indicates that your relationship is moving to the next level, so I guess that makes sense, considering we're getting married in two months Smiley xd

Yes. I am divorced and getting remarried next month. I keep having dreams that I am back with my ex-husband and I am trying to escape from him and get back to my current FH. They are horrible nightmares and I am always so relieved when I wake up and see FH next to me.

Smiley xd I have these all the time, but I am also prone to nightmares! I've just learned to let it go and laugh it off, oftentimes the dreams make both of us laugh because they are so ridiculous! Recently I had one where my FH was secretly going to BDSM clubs in the middle of the night (which he is DEFINTELY not into, lol! Not judging those who are, just saying), and had this secret room I had never seen in our 500sqft apartment filled with chains and whips and all that hahaha we laughed hard about that one!

I had a dream the other I showed up to start setting up my venue (we have an hour to set out centerpieces on the tables and the guest book and such) and they were having 2 children’s parties at the venue! The lady laughed a little bit when I told her I was supposed to have the space and said “they said they have it until 4pm, that’s so funny!”

I think it’s just dreams, it doesn’t necessarily mean anything. But they might be brought on by just pre wedding stress! Try not to read into it too much

Oh no! That sounds awful. I am seriously so fascinated by our subconsciouses and wonder where these dreams stem from. I hope they stop for you once you're remarried!

I can't imagine ever getting used to them, and I'm really hoping they stop after the wedding! Lol, that BDSM dream is definitely hysterical though Smiley xd I'm sure you and FH got a great laugh out of that one!

I'm trying not to read too much into them… I just wish they didn't leave me feeling emotional after I actually wake up though Smiley amazing

Yeah that definitely makes it rough. I always cuddle up next to my fiancee if she’s there to distract me from bad dreams. If it does get bad, I do recommend journaling (either dream journaling or just in general) or some type of meditation when you wake up, it might make you feel better before starting the day!

Yeah I think I have a wedding “nightmare” any night that I’m going through wedding details to close to bedtime🙄🤦🏻‍♀️. Also probably because I’m the primary planner. So I think it’s just stress.

Dreamt last night that my mom laid my dress out face down on the floor of her living room and my cat (who passed away 3 years ago—miss her a ton!) was running around on it and I couldn’t catch her to stop her. And had a dream a few months back that I got through the whole wedding before I realized I wore the wrong dress 😭😅 all these dress nightmares have me nervous to pick it up next week

I honestly just think that it is a mix of emotions going through your mind while you sleep. Maybe a bit of anxiety since you have been wedding planning while you are conscious. I wouldn't look too much in to it as this is stressful trying to plan a wedding and you don't need the additional stress about dreams. Smiley heart

I've had a few. One where my FH was openly dating another woman the night before we closed on our house. I told my FH and he said he was going to have a talk with dream him lol. I really don't think they mean anything. Plus the woman he was dating in my dream was soooo not his type hahaha.

I can usually laugh off any wedding "nightmares" I have, as they're super unrealistic; however, the dreams I've been having as of lately just feel too real, and I think that's why they've been bothering/staying with me

OMG! Smiley xd Those are crazy dreams! I totally feel you on that one though. I'm nervous about storing my dress at home for several weeks prior to our wedding
