Avoid Bloat Before Destination Wedding?

Joel and Emily, on October 9, 2022 at 9:04 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 2
Hi!! We are having a destination wedding in Mexico and plan on doing 3-4 days of pre wedding festivities. We along with our friends and family are definitely foodies and love a good drink. However, I’m worried that between food, drinks and jet lag I’ll be super bloated the day of the wedding. Any advice on how to mitigate the bloat? Thanks in advanced!!

We have the same situation, and I have the same fears! I’m just going to try to limit my alcohol, salt and carb intake during the days leading up to the wedding; and focus on eating proteins and vegetables. Also, taking a diuretic could help a bit with water retention.

Drink lots of water, especially during your flight to MX. Stray away from green veg like broccoli, asparagus, and spinach as they are a bloat trigger for many people.

Important to note, bloating is caused primarily by water retention or overeating [being way too full, which I don't think is the kind of bloat you're referring to here]. Drink enough water so that your body doesn't feel necessary to hold on to any extra. You know what foods cause you to bloat the most! Stray away from adding extra salt to your foods, and choose fish when you can! Potassium in fish will be your bestie. Alcohol is okay in moderation and stray away from drinking it Smiley heart hours from bedtime.

Foods like ginger, celery, and cucumbers will help you get things moving too.
