Automotive Decor Ideas?

Emilie R, on July 12, 2017 at 8:59 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

I got engaged over the weekend and I am ecstatic! We're not getting married until September 2019, but I just can't help but dream a little. FH and I are both very big gearheads, we love to work on our cars together. Has anyone done or seen any cool/cute automotive/mechanic wedding decor? TIA!

Congrats! you can make table numbers different cars or a automotive related cake topper. Be careful with themes. People tend to go overboard and it looks like a toddler's bday party.

That is so true, and something I never thought of! I'm hoping I can just do a couple of subtle things without going totally overboard!

I don't have any helpful decor ideas, but my FH and I are as well (we both drag race) so we took our e-pics with our cars at the racetrack!

You could do vintage oil cans as centerpieces, I've seen tool oriented bouts and serving sets, etc. I like the idea of using car makes or models instead of table numbers. I don't think we are doing anything automotive related besides having our cars in our photos.

Congratulations!!!! Just do little automotive touches. Otherwise like PP said it can look like a kids party. Maybe you can find a really unique wedding venue Smiley smile

Kate's idea is great. There's a car museum in my area that is available for events. Otherwise what PPs have said is usually the way to go--small subtle details. Table numbers, cake topper, escort cards, guestbook, STDs.

We are having our reception in the Indy Car factory where they manufacture all the indy cars and for our exit instead of sparklers and bubbles we are having everyone wave checkered flags.

Check pinterest! There are plenty of ideas Smiley smile

@Kate you were close! and thanks! We are also getting an Indy Car wrapped/decal with our wedding date on it so guests can sit in it and take pics with it.

I was MOH in my best friend's wedding a few years back and since her husband was a huge car guy, she wanted a lot of car touches, but ended up going the subtle route because everyone told her it would be too children's birthday party-ish.

She got a cake topper with the bride dragging the groom and around him was his toolbox with all his car tools. For the garter section, he pulled out tools from under her dress instead of the garter and his wedding band was an a gear, not an actual gear, but a ring that looked like a gear. I think everyone pretty much got the gist of it.

How about using a car seat as your sweetheart table?

    Just a thought.

I'm having a grooms cake made in the likeness of FHs muscle car.

A groom's cake in the shape of a tire would be neat. or simple centerpieces like Kate showed. Etsy has neat cake toppers.

Just don't go to overboard with everything because like others are saying, it will look like a kids birthday party.
