Australia or Cruise?

Mandee, on October 13, 2019 at 6:26 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7

I have always wanted to go to Australia (the GBR! The Australia Zoo!!!), but I know that it's supper expensive to fly there (Florida bride here!) plus lodging and all that. FH suggested a week long cruise to Bali/Grand Turks/Etc, which is much cheaper and all inclusive. We're paying for most of the wedding ourselves and I know we shouldn't blow more money on a super expensive HM, but when else can I justify this kind of trip?

What would y'all do?

Florida bride here too!! Australia would be an amazing honeymoon but only if it’s within your budget. Since you live in Florida you can basically cruise (fairly cheap) any time with all the ports we have here. We choose a 7 day cruise for our honeymoon because my FH refuses to fly so our options were driving somewhere or cruising.

FH doesn't have an issue with flying, but he does love the convenience of cruises being all inclusive! I might just have to take a solo trip to the Outback someday, lol

We cruise very often and it's so much less stressful because it's all inclusive - the budget is a non-issue the entire time you're there. It's been much more enjoyable for us that way. But, to each their own!

I feel ya. I'm planning a trip next year and initially it was to Australia but it just was so expensive overall we decided on a cruise.

I've seen some packages to Australia that aren't crazy priced. We were feeling the same because our honeymoon is about 9k. Adding that to our wedding cost and we could have had a house down payment. We know we are going to start a family once we get a house and our opportunity for travel and certain experiences will lessen. We didn't want to resent each other later for missing out on these important experiences so we decided to just go for it.

I love cruises, so that’s what I would do. Save Australia to do together when you have the funds.

I am an avid cruiser myself so I would always vote for that! That cruise sounds absolutely amazing too! Flights can get quite expensive. I would decide what are some must haves for you and how much do you want to spend. The nice thing about cruising is you won't have to fly and you can relax sooner. Australia is such a long flight! If you're not going for long enough, it might not seem worth it. I think if you decide to do the cruise you can always go to Australia in the future. Maybe for your anniversary sometime? Set a goal of when you want to go and start saving for it (after the wedding of course). That way you know you'll go eventually.
