Aulani Wedding Planning Advice

Corri, on February 13, 2020 at 7:07 PM Posted in Hawaii Planning 0 7

Hello Everyone!

I've begun to long process of pricing out my wedding at Aulani in Kapolei, HI. Granted out wedding date isn't until November 2021. I was wondering if anyone would have any tips or tricks to planning at Aulani?

I have searched far and wide across the web and there was not much on the pricing for add-ons (such as lighting...etc) and menu offerings details. I am aware of the pricing for venues and the starting prices between the two packages.

Also, how does the room blocking work? Is there a discount given? The place is pretty pricey and I believe, from what I read on their website was that there is a 10-night minimum required for booking your wedding there.

Any and all information would be a great help! We're just trying to get an idea of what the budget would be looking like so we can save the right amount of money.

Thank you in advance!

So while I have not looked at Aulani we tossed around the idea of a Disney wedding (we live in Orlando and met working for Disney)

Disney Travel Babble is a website ran by a Disney travel reporter who wrote a whole book on Disney weddings. Like she had her wedding plus lots of other private events as well. This could be a great place to start.
Also other Disney fan sites might be helpful as well. Disboards has an entire forum section on Disney weddings and honeymoons as well one on Aulani itself.
We are considering spending a few days at Disneyland before heading to Aulani for our honeymoon!

10 whole days?!!! 🙈 Are they for realz?

We looked into Aulani for our honeymoon, and the price for 5 nights was more than our venue and catering combined. I would definitely look into packages and make sure you take guests into consideration, because it might cost everyone a pretty penny to come celebrate with you. Maybe call them and see if they have a specific wedding coordinator who can show you pricing? I know when we were looking for the honeymoon, we found online brochures for honeymoon packages.

Ah thank you for the suggestions on forums and the Disney Travel Babble website! I will be checking those out! Smiley smile

My fiance and I thought about getting married at Disneyland since we live in California, it's pretty much our second home, and are not too far away from Anaheim. Another plus was how much cheaper it is because we wouldn't have to pay for airfare and because we would be able to have our pup join in on the festivities as well. But we're so hung up on having our ceremony at Aulani that I think we're going to just take the dive and see what happens lol. Hopefully I can get a better idea with the forums and Travel Babble website you suggested!

If you decide to do a honeymoon at Disneyland and Aulani I hope you both have a wonderful trip!! Both places are amazing!

LOL, right?! Well the nights have to total to ten days. So if at least ten people from our guest list books a room for one night then we would meet our minimum. But there's no mention of discounts for room blocks or any idea of what kind of deal would even be offered.

I've done some research on surrounding hotels and places in Waikiki that would be cheaper to stay in for guests! I know I would be asking for a lot if they all stayed at Aulani. My fiance's side of the family can definitely afford it but mine cannot. I have additional hotel recommendations in different price points on our wedding website which isn't published yet due to our wedding date still being in the works and we're still working out minor details before we take the plunge in committing to Aulani.Smiley smile

I'll contact Disney's Fairy tale Weddings soon. I've heard they can be a little bit secretive with their pricing if the wedding is really far out. But we shall see! I just thought I'd ask if anyone else had any insight to the wonderful world of Disney weddings at Aulani.

The hotels surrounding the Aulani are part of Koolina which is an expensive resort area. Waikik would be cheaper but is at least a 40 min drive and traffic can be horrible depending on the time they drive there. I have been to the Aulani a few times to eat and it is a beautiful property but is definitely pricey in all areas.

The 10 nights is any combination of rooms. 10-1night rooms, 5-2night rooms etc.

I checked Aulani too bec FH wanted this (but we changed our mind as it was overall too pricey for us vs other resorts). From what I remember the prices are posted at the disney website (ceremony and reception). Some venues you need to pay additional fees but some are included in the $10,600 or $5,400 package depending on your guest count. Then you have to add florals, DJ, etc. Dinner is $175 per head. I also emailed Aulani and I found Brandi quite responsive to my questions esp the 10-room nights minimum (as the others have rightly clarified in this thread) Hope this helps!
