August in Metro Detroit - Experience? Regrets?

Rebecca, on October 5, 2020 at 10:22 AM Posted in Michigan Planning 0 3

Hi all! We are debating between 8/21/21 and 10/23/21 for our wedding date. I'd love to keep the August date, but I'm concerned it may be too hot. Our reception will be indoors with AC so no worries there. Our potential church is an old Catholic church from the 1920s in Redford, MI. There is no direct sunlight (stained glass only) and the ceiling are very high. I'm hoping it will be fine but does anyone have experience with a similar situation?

Hi Rebecca! I did a quick google search and it looks like the average high in Detroit in August is 80 degrees, which doesn't seem too bad!

Does the church have fans you can also use if you need them? Or are you allowed to rent or bring fans?? I'd also see if you can keep the service on the shorter side and make program fans for your guests!

Thanks so much, Lynnie! The church confirmed they have fans to use if we need them. We are going to go with the August date. The good news is we just moved back from out of state so we can test the church out in June/July and see how hot it gets Smiley smile Thanks again for the help!
