August Brides in Maine

Kristen, on February 11, 2021 at 9:34 AM Posted in Maine Planning 0 8
What is our outlook for your wedding? Are you prepping for plan A (original, full guest list), plan B (rain, full wedding), plan C (cuts from covid restrictions), plan D (worst case scenario of rain and covid cuts)? My brains been in overdrive, I know it’s out of our control. My wedding planner is optimistic but prepping me for any case. Just hard to plan for a handful of aspects like decor counts and such, not knowing what number to base it off it. Anyone hearing good news about August and maine restrictions?

So far, we're proceeding as planned. We are inviting 134 people (plan A). Our venue is a barn with an option for a tent outside if we need to do that. We're trying to stay optimistic!

We're trying to remain hopeful and optimistic as well! We're actually already on our Plan B, as we postponed our wedding in Maine from August 2020 to August 2021. Our original guest list was 120, but we brought it down to 100 to abide by current state guidelines for outdoor events (our wedding will be under a tent at an outdoor venue). We're optimistic that restrictions will not get any stricter than they are now, so we won't have to cut our guest list again. With the vaccine roll out, it's looking hopeful that by August, Maine will be in a much better place than it is now! How big is your guest list and is your wedding outside? I know how stressful this is and I'm sorry you're having to navigate all the uncertainty too!

Hi everyone - first, sending everyone love and well wishes for planning a wedding with everything going on in the world.

We have an outdoor wedding with Barn end of August. I agree the cut off of 100 is the worst, and I am sure it'll only get better. We currently have 150 and Family style dinner. Questions: Are you requiring masks to be worn? Requiring people to show test results or vaccination status? How is everyone feeling about a dance floor - who cares, mask or no mask? SENDING POSITIVE VIBES TO EVERYONE!

Hi! This is a great question. I wonder what the mask requirements will be come August. I live in MA and they just increased the indoor number to 100 and outdoor to 150, but I'm hoping ME follows suit and it only increases from there.

Also doing family style dinner, have 175 guests. Dancing is supposed to take place inside the barn, with dinner under a tent. Really, really hope dancing can happen in the barn. We are planning for if we need to add a dance floor to the tent.

MA announced last week that dancing at weddings is allowed again. Not sure on masks vs no masks. I'll look into that.

Planning to have sanitizer stations and masks, for those who want to wear them. I'm also planning to go through our guest list to see who will be vaccinated (at least projected to be vaccinated) by the time August rolls around. Hopefully that will mean 90% of guests lol!

It would be awesome if the state of ME allows more guests if you can provide proof if vaccination.

Does anyone know if vendors count in the total headcount for the venue?

    Hi Kristen,
We looked at a few venues this weekend (trying to get a 2021 date) and learned two things.
    1. The “100% capacity for outdoor venues” ONLY applies if the venue can still allow for social distancing at 100% capacity. So your guest count may depend on how much square footage your venue has. I don’t know what this means for dancing, but got the impression it mostly applied to table layout and meant masks on when not seated.2. The state is supposed to issue a handbook or some sort of additional guidance for the wedding and event industry around April 1st. Hopefully this will give a bit more clarity.
