August Bride- Riding it out...

Tara, on April 30, 2020 at 10:28 AM Posted in Community Conversations 10 318
We are scheduled to get married 8/22/20 in Ohio. I was going to revisit in June about possible cancellation. I have decided instead to ride this out longer. 90% of the planning is done and money is spent. We are going to continue as normal and not cancel until the beginning of August. Anyone else doing something similar? At this point, what do we have to lose 🤷‍♀️

Pretty much doing the same! We postponed our 4/4 wedding to 8/15, so we really can't fathom moving things again. If our venue cancels for some reason, we'll move everything to my hubby's friends house because we're done with waiting and done with the uncertainty. My hubby's cousin is a frontline nurse, and he seemed to think that was okay to plan for August in Texas. With precautions of course! But you can't expect people to just not get married for a whole year, and we don't want to postpone again. A year later we'll just be over the wedding process and already feel like we're just trying not to lose money and want to say vows with our families present.

I agree with you 100%. Even if we can’t have the reception in August, we will still get married and just cancel the party. I’m over the uncertainty as well.

We postponed to August and are getting married no matter what. We are just ready to be married and have this worry and uncertainty behind us.

Yeah I’m over it. When I say cancel I guess I should have specified cancel reception if we have to. I’m ready to be done with wedding planning.

Still planning to get married on the 14th of August in California our venue wedding coordinator is optimistic and so am I! Majority of our guests are in California and have been reserving their rooms. Have no plans to cancel or postpone unless we absolutely must. Our wedding wasn't going to be big to begin with maybe 75 people max and if needed we will cut down on the guest list. Glad you're still planning ahead as well :-)

Not in August, but beginning of September. We have no plans to postpone and we aren't going to make them. We think we will be fine by then. We haven't (thankfully) been hit too hard were we live and where the wedding is. Everyone is looking forward to our wedding especially now! I'm done letting this stupid virus run our lives so I am choosing to ignore it. I still go to work everyday like normal. We have 140 guests invited, guessing 120 or so will show up.

I feel the same way!! Ours isn’t until December but this is ridiculous at this point. I would 100% still go ahead with an August wedding. Good luck!!😊

I rescheduled my original wedding date of 5/2/20 to 8/29/20. Doing exactly the same as you! I’m seeing it as a lot can happen between the summer heat coming in and 4 months to go before our new date. We will send out our new invites probably at the beginning of July then ultimately decide before the beginning of August what to do (unless our venue decides for us!). Keeping fingers crossed for us all!

Yeah we have 96 and I assume some will not show. My fiancé and I are both working still also. He goes to work and I was moved to work from home. Prepared to cut the guest list if we have to. Invites are going out in June and hoping for the best 😊

Honestly I think things are going to get better! I know there are some smaller towns and cities in my state that are making the decision to reopen themselves and not waiting for our governor. While this may not be the best idea to go around like that. I can't help but agree with it somewhat. I am so ready to be able to go out again and do things. Good luck to you!!

I'm 8/1 and we're waiting for as long as we can. We don't really have a choice because our venue is not allowing us to reschedule right now...I'm going to try to hang on till mid-June. It's just so stressful. One day I'm positive and then the next day I'm a wreck. Smiley sad

California bride here too! I am definitely riding this out! Even though my wedding isn't until October, I also was having worries that I won't get my dream wedding at our original venue, but we do have a plan b to get married in his parents backyard just in case. Our wedding was also going to be small and intimate with about 40 people, so I'm still planning as usual and booking vendors. All I want to do is marry my man!

Ours is in July and we are wanting to get married regardless too! The planning process and has been really stressful lately and I'm tired of planning. It's becoming draining. If people decide not to come, I understand but there's so much an uncertainty right now that it's better to just go ahead and get married vs waiting and not knowing what's going to happen in the world such as another wave or worse.

Hi! Would your decision be different if you didn’t have everything planned and paid for? Our date is 8/29/20, but we only have the venue, photographer and my dress. We don’t want to put any more money down on vendors we might have to postpone, and making the decision to postpone will likely be a little easier since we don’t have much to move.

Our wedding was supposed to be on May 9th. Our venue asked us to postpone, so we decided to still have a private social distanced ceremony on May 9th (10 days away!!!!) and then have the big reception on August 22nd. I'm in WA state and we just got news that the stay at home order is being extended. My work has asked us to continue working from home at least through the beginning of June. I am slightly getting worried about how everything is going to look in August now. I don't think I'd postpone the wedding a second time at this point.

The huge silver lining to all of this for us is that we are buying a house right now that has a park right behind our backyard, so worst case scenario - if the venue asks us to postpone again, we will have a social distanced gathering at the park or in our backyard.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I understand the stress part of this as well. Already had to reschedule our 5/9 date to 8/22. I cried so much about this, I'm not sure my FH really understood why I was so upset, but it's hard to have everything planned out and then having to completely change everything and feeling like you might not get your perfect wedding day anymore.
