Hi!! We are getting married at The Mishawaka. Definitely happening. I’ve been in contact with our venue event manager who has given us a set of restrictions provided by Larimer County. Number of guests is at 155. It will 100% happen. It will be a bit different though. There have to be no more than 8 people per table and each table has to be social distanced. Guests must be seated during the ceremony at the tables. Masks must be worn while guests are up and wandering, but not required while seated at tables. We are working on the dancing restriction but right now we can’t have a dance floor. We are working on a variance with the county of we limit number of guests on the dance floor at once and if they wear masks.

I’m so happy to hear I’m not the only person going through with their wedding! I love the Mish, that will be a beautiful venue! That’s great! So far our venue hasn’t told us that we have any restrictions on a dance floor, but we are in the same county as yours, so I’m wondering. I thought about making dancing “stations” with old rugs from goodwill. Haha- We too will be doing socially distanced tables. I’ve bought masks and clip on hand sanitizer for every guest attending. No one will be allowed to walk around without a mask on either. I found some really cute paisley bandanas though that are fashionable. Has anyone given you push back for having your wedding still?? Most our friends/family have been supportive, but lately we’ve been getting suggestions from the grooms immediate family to postpone. My family is from Michigan and His is from Texas, so I know traveling is a concern. Do you have any out of state family attending? Is there anyone not going because of Covid? We’re having to make the tough decision that FH grandma shouldn’t travel and that’s been one of the reasons why FMIL wants to postpone, but it just doesn’t make sense to do it for one person as much as I love his grandma and more than anything would want her to be there. Ugh as if wedding planning wasn’t already stressful enough, stupid Covid.

We are also providing hand sanitizer for guests. The bandana is a great idea! I’m from California and the groom’s family all lives in Fort Collins. I’ve had older family of mine say they will not attend and I’ve even had a bridesmaid drop out. All of the groom’s family is fine with attending. I’m going to have a little party/mini reception in CA for my family and friends that can’t attend. Bonus- you can wear your dress twice. My mother is actually the one that wanted us to postpone. Our original date was June 11. But my fiancé and I have been engaged for over 2 years now, so we are ready! I’m also in graduate school and my fiancé is on the job hunt for a full time job out of grad school, so this is the best time for us.

That’s a great idea about the mini reception and that’s exactly what we’re doing! We’re having a small ceremony for FH grandma and now brother who is also a groomsmen who has dropped out due to having a newborn recently. I understand and support everyones decisions, but we’re also tired of waiting and I’m tired of feeling bad for moving ahead with this. My fiancé and I have been together for almost 7 years and want to start a family soon. I’m 30 and have endo, so I feel like if I put off ttc any longer I might not be able to have children. I also don’t want to be possibly pregnant next year for my wedding if we were to postpone, haha. We’re also doing a mini reception for those who can’t attend in Michigan 3 weeks after our wedding, but doing a mini-mony in Texas specifically for his grandma. She actually wants to come to the wedding here in CO, but collectively the family (including me) is against it since she’s in her 80’s. Are you having your mini reception in CA after your wedding date or before? Just curious. I’m wondering if we should get married in Texas next month before I start full time work at the end of July or just wait until after we’re married in August and things calm down there more to do the mock ceremony in November.
Btw thank you so much for your responses and info on what you’re doing, it’s really helping me to feel better about my own decisions!

    Hi Mary!
We’ve moved our date to 8/27/21, I feel a huge relief. I was so stressed before with the current situation.

I'm so having this very conversation in my head! I am also, coincidentally from Fort Collins. We are planning to get married in Estes August 21st and have been together now for 11 years (also in my 30s) - to say we are ready is an understatement! It's just heartbreaking to be going through all this after waiting so long for this day. But I totally agree with not wanting to wait to start a family, and also not wanting to be pregnant at a future wedding next year. It's really tough to know what to do, I have a lot of concerns/anxiety on having the wedding as cases were going down when we sent out invites, but now everywhere we are seeing a huge spike. 2020 is the worst! I so appreciate seeing what everyone else's perspective is.

Just made our final payment on the venue today, 30 days to go! I’m so ready to get this behind me. We have only about 40-50 guests coming now instead of our planned 120. This actually makes me feel better. I’m just excited to finally marry my best friend and get on with life.

That’s great! Our wedding is 9/4 in Denver. We also have a small guest count which I think is working in our favor. Both ceremony and reception are outdoors. Congrats And good luck!

We did, but now wildfires are raging very close to our venue and jeopardizing the whole wedding. The venue is right outside the mandatory evacuation area up in the piste canyon, absolutely devastating.

I’m glad your wedding went well!
Fingers crossed we don’t have to cancel ours last minute. I never thought a wildfire would be the reason we might have to cancel our wedding.
