August 2020 Wedding & Covid-19

Allison, on April 20, 2020 at 6:13 PM Posted in Oregon Planning 1 4
Any other August brides out there? Have you made the decision to postpone? Even though it appears that Oregon has a better grasp on the COVID-19 outbreak it seems like the phased reopening of the economy will be slow and many social distancing rules will be in place for a while. A lot of our friends seem to think it’s going to be fine in August but I’m more skeptical. Our guest list is 100+ with guests traveling from WA & CA, many of which are 65+.

Hello! August 29th here....I'm pretty sure we will be postponing. We have a giant guest list of 350-400ish, and I just don't think we will be allowed to have large gatherings like that. 50% of our guests are traveling in from Chicago, Colorado, Cali, etc. If we DO decide to move forward, we actually would just have to do immediate family only (i have a HUGE family....32 first cousins), so even then it would be around the ~100 mark, which I'm still not sure would be permitted.

    Hi Allison,

I'm sorry you're having to think about postponing your August wedding on top of planning your big day. eyFYBiGtFgC4Ag-LxBWWMP5UvJmt7cCKk6ZuRGas

I agree with the recommendation above. While this is definitely an uncertain time, it seems like plenty of August couples are waiting to make postponement decisions. Of course, everyone's situation is different, so it never hurts to be proactive about plan B!

Our original date 5.2.20. Postponed date 8.29.20. Fingers crossed. Expecting 50 guests. Most local. We will be traveling there.

Hi! We postponed our 08/01/2020 wedding in CA to July 2021. It was a hard pill to swallow but once we made the decision my anxiety and stress just melted away. My photographer made such a good point on pictures not coming out organic and the stress will really show. Also, my dress can't even be altered any time soon. I read an article that really helped me validate my feelings and decision, I'll link it below. I hope it helps and good luck!
