Asking Flower Girl and Ring Bearer's Parents - Who traditionally pays?

Dierdra, on December 24, 2019 at 5:39 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

Any advice on asking the parents of the potential ring bearer and flower girl? We are planning to ask this week at Christmas gatherings, but I don't want to ambush the parents into saying yes. Also who traditionally pays for the clothing? Is that the childs's parents or the bride/groom?

I think it’s fine to ask at holiday gatherings, but I wouldn’t do it in front of anyone else. The etiquette is kind of blurry on who pays for their attire. I’ve always been told that the couple should pay for any kids who clearly can’t pay for their own attire, but some people ask the parents to pay. I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that, but maybe it’s a regional thing

We have 3 ring bearers and the parents are paying for attire! I didn't explicitly ask them to pay for it, they just offered to since we aren't requiring them to go out and buy a tux made for a toddler so they just have to go out and buy gray slacks and a burgundy button down shirt which they can get at Walmart for fairly cheap Smiley smile

Ours are paying for their children! We did give them ideas of what we would like, but left the final decision to the parents, as they know their children best and know what they would be most comfortable and happy in!
