I didn't make a big show of it I just reached out to them separately and said hey our wedding is this day id love for you to be in it. Probably the earlier the better so they can start saving

I think if you waited until summer (a year out) you'll be good! They will have a year to save and get excited!

I did the same as pp I didn’t make a show of it or have proposal boxes for them (though I wish I did those because that’s cute). So I remember asking mine immediately after I got engaged

I would till about a year or so out. Just speaking from personal experience. I asked my girls super early on. Unfortunately one of the girls that was supposed to be a bridesmaid and I had a falling out in September of this year. I wish I would have waited until my date got closer to ask them.

Oh wait - depending on how far away your wedding is. When is your date?

And I meant September of 2019 not this year... But yes I fully recommend waiting until July of 2020. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of being engaged and asking your friends.

As PPs have said, I would wait for a year out. I've seen a lot of posts regretting asking their bridal party too early and then having falling outs with friends or other conflicts.

I asked my bridesmaids that lived nearby by taking them out to dinner and asking them there, and then I asked the third one with a bridesmaid proposal box. How you ask is totally up to you and your style. People you're close to are usually overjoyed to be a part of your day, no matter how you ask Smiley smile

I kinda like waiting till 10 months out! Unless you know for a fact your count of people and who you choose won’t change!

I'd wait until about 10-11 months out for the same reasons PPs mentioned above. I'm not going to be making a big deal out of it and I'm definitely asking them all separately and with no pressure (i.e. gifts) to make them feel like they're kind of obligated to say yes.

So my FH asked me to marry him on July 21st 2019. We set the wedding date for May 9, 2020. I asked my Bridesmaids on August 4th 2019. So I did it pretty quickly, but I was so excited! I invited all the girls out to lunch at a local Mexican restaurant. they were all so confused, because although I am close to each and every one of them, I have individual circles with them, if that makes sense... (Like High school friends, work friends, family... etc) ANYWAY, They all thought I was announcing a pregnancy LOL, but I surprised them each with a little clutch filled with goodies, a special note to each girl, and a light up "proposal" ring asking them to be my bridesmaids. I made it a pretty big deal.. but that is just who I am!

I told them almost a year out because I was so excited and couldn’t help it . And then 5 months later I sent them a official paper invite , so yeah they already knew. The earlier the better

I would say wait as long as you can around October-November. They will have plenty of time to save and you will have peace of mind. I'm May 2021 and I am waiting until end of September to tell them.

I was asked by a friend literally the week after she got engaged about 7 months ago and her wedding is April 2021. After her asking me, we have drifted apart. I have been focused on my wedding and she on hers along with family obligations.

Also you do not want to overwhelm BM to much to soon as said "friend" did to me as you still have a ways to go.

    Best of luck!
