Are you putting the number of seats reserved on your rsvp cards?

Maddie, on September 23, 2021 at 1:50 PM Posted in Planning 1 9

I'm planning on ordering invitations this week and I just wanted to see how many people were putting the number of spots reserved for each group of guests on their RSVP cards?

I wasn't initially going to do this, but our budget is so tight and our guest list already at 200 people, I don't want anyone springing extra guests on us.

If you did do this, how did you word it?

We will be. At the bottom we're putting "____ of # attending"

This might sound dumb, but especially if you're doing something like this please make sure your RSVP card is light enough to write on. We were sent one that was dark blue and they wrote the number in black ink so we had to move the card in the light to make sure they gave me and my fiancé two spots.

Good call out! Our RSVPs are white but they were almost black and I would have never thought about that.

I think we are going to as well, for similar reasons. We are at 200 for the guest list and I just want to minimize as much confusion as possible. So I'll put "we have reserved ____ seats in your honor" and I'll fill in the blank for each house hold. I go back and forth on it, but as of now I think we are going to.

Yeah, I need to run the idea by my FH before I order, but I'm hoping he agrees with my logic

Absolutely I did this. I also used Zola online RSVP so people could choose their meal options and mainly so people couldn't attempt to 'write in' additional uninvited guests. You always see the nightmare stories of people getting an invite for 2 and writing in an additional 5 guests.

Hmmm I probably wouldn’t fill in the number on the RSVP card because a group/couple that you invite might actually RSVP with less people than you invited. I would just put on the actual invitation who is invited and leave it at that.

I see no problem with this - unless you'd allow others if you have many no responses. But I'd be sure the wording is polite and welcoming. Smiley smile

The envelope addressing determines who and how many are invited. It is not something you have preprinted on the RSVP card.

My husband and I definitely did this because we had the same worries of guests inviting guests of their own. Even though people say simply addressing the names on the envelopes should be enough, I’ve read way to many horror stories to know that isn’t always true and we wanted to cover our basis especially since the envelopes are the first to get lost or tossed to the side. We did “We have reserved ___ Seats in your honor”. And we just wrote in the number before sending them out.
